hello all!
Greetings my fellow Members of the Tribe and allies!
Hello everyone) I am new here)
This is great to see.
So I found this little group the other day and actually cried a little, because I didn't even know there was this type of representation on the site. I am not really religiously Jewish anymore, haven't been for a long time, but I do identify as racially Jewish. I still try to honor my heritage in what ways I can, along with their practices, because it is my identity. Thank you so much for creating this group, because I am actually crying a bit now while typing this. I wanted to say when Mariel talked the other day about how she felt ashamed of heritage that I have felt it too. It, for parts of my life, was something I was ashamed of and hid. Ashamed and hid for fear of persecution, for mockery, belittling, threats, and all the other things that come from people knowing. I've received death threats online, my internet taken offline, among other things due to my heritage even. Though I am rather quick now to state I am Jewish and those words/actions don't hurt me anymore, it was still an experience I wished to share within this group at least.
MY PEOPLE! sorry, I'm an odd nut. I just think it's totally awesome that this community exists.
RvJ's #DoGood campaign was a huge success, and yesterday ,we announced the winner of the RT Store gift card! Twitter user @mchamp90_iOS donated to a personal cause, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and was even our first donation of this year's drive! Thank you to everyone who donated to a good cause!
RvJ's annual #DoGood campaign will be starting on Giving Tuesday, which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving! Giving Tuesday started in 2012 as a way to encourage the spirit of giving during the otherwise consumer-ridden holiday season. This year, RvJ will be raffling off a $25 gift card to the RT store. All you have to do is make a donation of $5 or more to the charity of your choice and send in proof of the donation to be entered! You can email, DM or @ us on Twitter, or join our discord and DM the admin (me!) with your proof! It's super easy, a fantastic thing to do, and hey, you might just get a little something for yourself in the process. Our campaign will run December 3rd until January 27th, so there's plenty of time to get your donations in! We'll also be tweeting out reminders every week, along with suggestions on some charities that you can donate to, so give us a follow! This charity drive is open to all RT fans, regardless of if you're in RvJ or not, or even if you're in any other communities (you should take a look around, there's a ton of cool ones on the community site!). Got some Qs? I might have some As. Drop a comment if you need more info! Email: redversusjew@gmail.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/RedvsJew Discord: http://discord.gg/C4QwDZG
Last year, RvJ ran a holiday donation drive between (American) Thanksgiving and International Holocaust Remembrance Day that we're looking to repeat this year! But first, we gotta know: Would you prefer a $25 gift card to the RT store, or a 6-month FIRST membership?
Welcome, one and all! RvJ is the premier community group for Jewish RT fans and our allies to discuss all things Judaism, Rooster Teeth, and especially anything that overlaps the two! Here are some basic rules to get us all started on the new community site so that we can all practice kindness and community together! 1) Respect your fellow community members -Absolutely no hate speech is allowed. This includes (but is not limited to) slurs of a homophobic, racist, sexist, colorist, ableist nature. If you were truly unaware that a word you're being called out for was a slur, apologize and learn from your mistake. A second instance will result in a ban. -This server respects all Jewish identities. This includes patrilineal Jews, converts, and non-practicing Jews who consider Judaism a racial identity. Do not use this community as an opportunity to go after other members because you don't agree with their identification. -While this server isn't restricted to only Jewish Rooster Teeth fans, we cater to them and those interested in learning more about Judaism. This server will not tolerate non-Jewish members and Jewish members alike making decisive statements on who is or is not Jewish. This server does not tolerate anti-Semitism. 2) Keep politics where it belongs -This is a Jewish community and we will respect peaceful discussions on all sides. Debates advocating for the dismantlement of Palestine will result in a ban. 3) Cyber harassment and all its many forms will not be tolerated -If a member of this groups messages you with something inappropriate on any form of social media, please reach out to stephTheBearJew here or through the RvJ Twitter account to discuss it with her. In most, if not all, cases, stalking a member to their other forms of social media for the purpose of harassing them will result in an instant ban from this group. If you become aware of another user's social media accounts outside of them posting links for the purpose of being followed, use common sense and assume they didn't post it because they don't want to be followed without permission. 4) Do not impersonate or claim to be a Rooster Teeth employee. -We're all here because we're fans of Rooster Teeth content. Do not pretend to be a staff person of Rooster Teeth. This includes (but certainly isn't limited to) editing your profile appearance (profile picture, RT site username, etc) to appear to be a staff member. Respect your fellow community members 5) Do not post NSFW content
