I have not used the forums in years and honestly i hope this is the right place to post this as well as this being the first post of its kind. I would not be surprised if someone had created this already so I'm hoping my efforts haven't gone to waste.
In the past few mounths the AH crew have been delving into TTT which is something i really enjoy watching as i have spent countless hours with it myself and it got me thinking about creating content for it. Years back when i had loads of free time i spent most of it either gaming or creating map content for various source engine games. I do not claim to be an expert on the subject and frankly someone could have probably just made a quick port of the original map which would probably have turned out better and definetly way less time consuming. However me being me i decided to make it from scratch with nothing but an old pc version of Achiement City that i downloaded ages ago by Blizz408.
Anyway this is a work in progress and I consider it far from done. There are missing textures, areas that needs to be reworked and scaled, balancing issues, as well as entire areas that i want to add in the near future such as extra rooms. On top of that I' looking into adding traps and small eastereggs referencing the previous things to do and letsplays. Theese include Ray's cake wall as a trap, Jacks Lava and possibly leaky ceiling and Edgar's hole. For now I added plan G to sort of deal with the huge open area, and even that isnt finished as I wwould like it to a bigger physical explosion that sennds debris flying everywhere as this is the sourrce enngine and blocks dont just disapear. I'm also planning on expanding the maps, probably by adding the large animals and creeper and maybe even making portals to smaller letsplays.
As for the background, that was a design choice as the engine would'nt be able to handle something that size and a 3D skybox would never create a convincing backdrop like you see in minecraft. So the hole edge of the world was inspired by the fracture in Portal Knights to sort of deal with where the boundaries were.
As for the map itself, this isnt a port, it was made brush by brush, texture by texture and took about 2 days give or take. I'll include a temporary download link, however since I dont usually work with custom textures there might be an issue loading them. I have attempted to compile them into the .bsp file using pakrat but if its missing please do let me know and ill get a fix out for it asap.
As of now this version is playable but very small and poorly balanced, I would however appreciate feedback, bugs, performance issues, siize and other improvements or things you'd like me to add. I did not want to post anything before i had something to show, but now that they have started uploading videos with minecraft maps my nerves got the better of me fearing that someone would beat me to it.
