Getting into the Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance catalogue

I posted a little about this over in the Discord but I like the conversation style that a forum site offers. I never got into the Nintendo handhelds growing up, I just didn't have access to those but did have the consoles. I've started playing my way through some of the big titles there and have really been enjoying the experience. There are also a ton of cool games that have been released in the last several years for this original hardware that are amazing. Now that we have gotten so much more efficient at what can be built for these platforms and can squeeze every bit out of them. Currently playing Legend of Zelda DX, Eyra the Crow Maiden for Genesis and Dragonyhm. I'll put links below for that last 2 in case anyone in interested in checking them out. https://modretro.com/products/dragonyhm https://www.second-dimension.com/store/eyra-the-crow-maiden

Any Fire Emblem Fates players here?

Hi, I just started a new official (I say official cause I overwrote half the second play through I already started with a better mindset of the games and choices I will be making with my character) second play through of Conquest after a pretty long break. Was just curious if anyone still played the Fates games after a year of its international release.

RT Community Pokemon VGC

Hello everyone! Apologies if this is already a thing already. All I could find is a group which doesn't seem to have had any activity for just over a year. So I have started a new group in the hopes of organizing leagues for the RT Community. There are no prizes to speak of except for bragging rights. It's all about having a good time and enjoying the competition and also helping each other improve :) If you'd be interested the plan is to get everyone in the group so that we're not flooding the forums and we'll go from there. Please do check it out at least. Hope you decide to get involved :) Don't forget to let any other Trainers you know, know about this, the more the merrier! Here is a link to the group where everything will be organised. http://roosterteeth.com/group/pkm151/

PS Vita Gamers

I know my fellow PS Vita only brethren are out there. There may be few of us but we are strong in our love for the handheld. Just wanted to make a little place for Vita gamers to come and drop their PSN Handle if they're looking to make some friends, as well as place to talk about all things for this supremely under-rated piece of tech.

Anyone Still Playing Animal Crossing?

Hello, lovely lads and ladies! I just began playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf again yesterday, and I was wondering if any of you lovely folks were still playing? If not, are you playing any of the more classic games? I was thinking about restarting Wild World or City Folk, but I dunno, I think one time-eating game is enough for me right now.

Nokia N-GAGE Buying Guide - Do You Remember this thing!?

The Nokia N-Gage was a failed cell phone / gaming handheld that crashed and burned with only 58 physical games released for it. However, there is a small but dedicated collecting community for it and The Immortal John Hancock happens to have a 100% complete N-Gage collection. Plus he also shows us some of the handheld variations, different packaging, game highlights, preview and press editions and even a very rare N-Gage demo kiosk used at Gamestop! Did you own an N-Gage or secretly want/despise it!?

Thoughts on Pokémon?

To me, the design of some of the newer Pokémon is somewhat clever yet quite similar to Gen 1's concepts (Muk and Trubbish for example) though the adventure has become less than engaging. Look at Diamond/Pearl/Platinum where you are forced to backtrack all over the region whereas in Black/White you go in an oval. Let's hope Sun/Moon strike the perfect balance!

Underrated Gameboy Games?

I naturally still own my gameboy advance. Lately I've been replaying Legend of Zelda Seasons of Oracles and Seasons of Ages. I feel like no one has played/heard of these two Zelda games but in my opinion they are some of the best. So what games did you like that no one else talks about?

Mobile Games

What do you guys look for in mobile games? Do you prefer to pay for the game? Free to play? Strategy? What exactly appeals to you when you are looking for a new game?

Tetris (App)

Tetris is a classic game, right? Either way I'm talking about the app version so it doesn't really matter. I wanted to set this up so we could all compare scores and all that fun stuff. If anyone else here plays it, that is I'm really into playing marathon mode and endless. I'm trying to get my endless highscore to 3,000,000 by Christmas (I was about 34,000 off my last game).

Please Help me find some fun games on my Ipad

So a friend of mine bought a new Ipad last year and gave me her old one an Ipad mini and I've been trying to find some games to play on the go (Train, Bus, Subway, etc.) and I've had a handful major problems: 1. A ridiculous amount of available games, I don't have time to downlaod and test all the hgames that look cool 2. The majority of these games are garbage or could barely even be called games, I'd call them timer simulators (ie. Clash of Clans or Tiny Tower, the latter I though might be like Sim Tower) 3. Alot of the better ones like Hearthstone and Loot&Legends require an internet connection...Hearthstone makes sense for multiplayer but i don't get why you cant play offline against the AI, Loot and Legends is a single player card/tactics game which has no right requiring a net connection. The worst part is most games don't specify this which is no biggie for F2P games but its making me really gunshy about buying anymore games 4. The ipad mini struggles to run alot of the games. 5. Despite the fact thats it's a mobile platform alot of the games require your full attention like action RPGs or Tower Defense, it might just be me but I have to do alot of transferring during my commutes/weekend trips which means stuff like action rpgs are a no go and turn based stuff is golden. 6. Anything that uses "motion controls" do not react well to well constantly moving. Anyways here's the list of games i've tried on my ipad categorized quickly&roughly (note: some have crashing issues due to the mini's weak hardware, most of the "awesome" require a net connection) Awesome: Hearthstone, Loot&Legends, , Final Fantasy Dimensions, Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Choice of the Dragon, Crimson: Steam Pirates, Tinkerbox, Plague Inc. Good but clunky/attention requiring: Minecraft,Kotor 1/2, Legend of Grimrock, Terraria, Action RPGs, Tower Defense, Don't Starve, Baldur's Gate Enhanced 1&2 Meh: Beast Bound, Hero Academy, RAD Soldiers, Flockwork, Papers Please, Angry Birds, Loathe: Bad Nerd, Clash of Clans (and its clones), Fallout Shelter, Anything "Arcade-like", Tetris (and it's clones like Candy Crush), FNAF, Lastly assuming my Ipad Mini can handle these games here's a list of game I'm thinking of buying but haven't due to previously mentioned hardware issues and fear of net connection requirements. (and partially holding off cause some of these games i already own on steam but are more suited to a portable platform) Planning to buy: Banner Saga, Any Telltale game, FTL, World of Goo, Revolution 60, maybe some ports/remakes like FF or Dragon Quest. So yeah hopefully that gives you a good enough idea of what I'm looking for so I can get some suggestions of some games to download (free or pay doesn't matter).

Fantasy Life

Hey guy just wondering if anyone has played Fantasy Life? I think that it's one of the best games on the 3DS but have never met anyone who plays it. If you haven't heard of it I highly recommend it. Such a great RPG

Pokemon Z announced

So the expected follow up to X and Y, Pokemon Z has been announced for a 2016 release. What are your thoughts on the game, and on not having a 2015 Pokemon game?

Thinking about getting a Dreamcast

Lately, I've been on a retro gaming kick, and after revisiting alot of my old N64 games and browsing around retro game stores, I was thinking about eventually getting a Dreamcast. Admittedly, I never had much childhood experience with the Dreamcast aside from playing some of it at a friend's house, so I can't say it holds much nostalgia for me. But since it's relatively cheap now, I figured it could be a cool edition to my collection. Aside from getting the console and two controllers, I was also wondering what games I should get for it. It seems like most of the Dreamcast classics that would have peaked my interest I already own or have already played a ton of when they were ported to other systems (Sonic Adventures 1 and 2, all the Resident Evil games, etc.). Besides the Sonic and Resident Evil games, what are some other great Dreamcast games that I could get that still hold up very well? Post edited 5/13/15 10:19AM

Essential 3DS games?

I recently "acquired" a pink 3DS that my little sister has been using as an ornament for quite some time. even though i've had a gameboy before in my childhood, i've never really ventured outside of the cartoon/ movie tie-in genre of games (which were pretty terrible, looking back). so i'm here to ask all you guys in the know, what are the "must have"/ best games to get for the 3DS? I've already bought Pokemon Omega Ruby, and A Link Between Worlds.

New 3DS XL vs. 3DS XL?

So I haven't owned a handheld console since Game Boy Color (in lime green of course) way back when and I'm looking at the 3DS XL. I was wondering what people thought of the recently put out "NEW" 3DS XL vs. the older one. I'm not crazy about only black or red being the options for console color (petty, I know), but the 3D effects look way better from the vids/reviews I've seen on the newer one. Any thoughts or recommendations?
