We are committed to protecting the personal information of our Community Members. This Notice describes the specific steps we take when we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including:
- PIPEDA (federal law),
- Alberta’s PIPA,
- British Columbia’s PIPA, and
- Québec’s Private Sector Act (as amended by Law 25).
This notice augments our Privacy Policy, which also applies. If any part of this notice conflicts with our Privacy Policy, for Canadian and if applicable certain Canadian province residents, this notice will control.

We have appointed an individual responsible for ensuring compliance with these privacy laws, the Privacy Policy, and this notice.

We collect only the information necessary for the identified purposes, as set forth in the Privacy Policy.
Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention
Your personal information will not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, unless you provide further consent or as required by law. We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes or comply with legal obligations. Information is securely destroyed or anonymized once no longer required (subject to feasibility restrictions with respect to archived data, which will be protected in accordance with the Safeguards provision set forth below until destroyed).

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete, and up to date for the purposes for which it is used.

Cross-Border Transfers
If we transfer personal information outside, please note that your personal information may be disclosed outside Québec or Canada. We use contractual safeguards and secure processing protocols to protect your information in accordance with applicable privacy laws. Currently, we may use cloud service providers in the U.S., UK or EEA (see here). By using our Services, you consent to this transfer.
Automated Decision-Making
We may use algorithms to customize your experience or support the Services delivery, in particular for automated moderation of Community Member generated content. We do not profile using these algorithms. You have the right to:
- Be informed about any decisions made exclusively using automated processing.
- Request human intervention or contest such decisions.
Privacy by Design & Default
We implement privacy settings at the highest level by default and integrate privacy measures into the development of our Services.
Breach Notification
- PIPEDA & Alberta PIPA: If a breach creates a "real risk of significant harm," we will notify affected individuals and the privacy commissioner, within timeframes mandated by law.
- Québec Law 25: In the event of a breach of personal information, we will notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and affected individuals, within timeframes mandated by law.
Retention & Destruction
We have policies to ensure that personal information is securely retained, then destroyed or anonymized when no longer required.
