So I Passed...
I passed the PE Exam in the Civil Engineering: Geotechnical background. That basically means I am now Newbs, PE. This test took four months off my life in terms of studying, and honestly it is so worth it it is ridiculous.

Today, Rachel Got Me Something!
Holy cow it's been two months since I've posted on here! My apologies for not doing much...it's been a hectic couple months.
Anywho, Rachel and I both got crazy awesome raises/bonuses for work last year, and we decided to go a little crazy on our gifts...
She suggested this, and my gosh she was right!
I guess I know what I'm going to be for Halloween for the rest of my life! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
2018, Get Outta Here!
Holy crap I've been doing these journals for 7 years now! Three outta five ain't bad for me.
Instead of going into crazy detail over the past year, I'm going to say the three things I loved this year and the five things I plan to change/resolve for 2019!
Newbs' Best of 2018
1. Traveling with Rachel. This year I got to go to Paris, Toulouse, Seattle, Mt. Saint Helens, Austin, Fargo, and Punta Cana with this incredible woman. There are far too many memories to discuss, and I can't wait for the ones to come!
2. Living with Tom and his dog at my new house. Seriously, these two kept me sane on days when I wasn't feeling the best. Especially his dog, Riza. She's so darn playful and always up for messing around or snuggling on the couch.
3. Connecting with old/new friends. Whether it be playing Destiny 2, Rock Band, or board games at a new brewery, I love the friendships that I've been a part of over the past year. Lot of great memories again...
And for 2019...
1. Pass the PE for Civil Engineering. Big ol' test, big ol' raise if I pass, big ol' professionalism that comes with it. Bring it on, April 5th!
2. Meditation. I desire to meditate using the Headspace app on my phone every day. Whether it be in the morning, during lunch break, or before bed. I love how I feel during the day after a 15 minute session, so why not try and have that feeling constantly?!
3. I want to upgrade a lot of my house. Ceiling fans/lights in the bed rooms, insulation for the roof, and maintaining the yard a little better this year are definitely at the front of a long list of things I'd like to get done for the house!
4. Bake/cook more! I've been consistently grilling food and making frozen veggie meals for the last couple years now, and now that Rachel is moving in officially tomorrow (OMG!!) I think it is time to start prepping some better meals! Likely going to start off easy with crock pot recipes and the like, and then move onto bigger and better things. I mean hell, I made an Il Timpano this year...I think I can handle it.
5. Listen to music more. I've been listening to a few podcasts now for quite a while, and I miss discovering new artists/albums and just getting lost in them in my head. Goal is start with the Discover Weekly section of Spotify and use that as a platform to expand my horizons!
Hope you all had a great year, and even if it was poopy, hope 2019 is vastly better!
