Sigh, have we learned nothing from the past? The re incarnated Rooster Teeth is picking up where the original died, spread out among too many internet locations. Remember when we got ALL our information about Rooster Teeth from Rooster Teeth on Rooster Teeth? (redvsblue.com). I have no idea where I can find out what's going on. Here on Rooster Teeth.com? The sub reddit, (which thread?) the comments section of the podcast? (which one of multiple platforms?), patreon? blue sky? twitter? tik tok? some app I don't know about. Please, please , please bring the community BACK TO ONE LOCATION.
Or is it just me?
I'm logged in but nothing shows under feed or groups.
Or did leaving first mean nothing works on the community side?
Bye bye little star
While my gold star is gone on the "offishul" site, it still lingers on in the legacy
Wow, Warner Media didn’t waste any time at all taking over Rooster Teeth.
1. For the first time in ten years Rooster Teeth was at San Diego Comic Con. Warner Bros runs comic con.
3. gen:lock is on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. Both are owned by Warner.
4. At least the Mortal Kombat tournament at RTX was live streamed by eleague on twitch . If you didn’t know, eleague is part of Warner. If you missed the live stream, highlights will be shown later this year on TBS, which is also a Warner property.
5. The new subscription rates were announced at SDCC, NOT at RTX , then not announced simultaneously on the RT site unlike almost every other major announcement they make at an event. It was posted AFTER SDCC was over almost a week later late on a Friday.
6. Even after 621 mostly negative downvotes and 548 mostly negative comments on CEO Matt Hullum’s post about FIRST rate increases posted two weeks ago, Rooster Teeth still hasn’t responded. (nor have they responded on reddit, where the responses are also mostly negative)
7. However the Rooster Teeth store responded less than 24 hours after an undetermined, but far fewer, number of negative comments to a product that was posted on twitter. They immediately removed the product as well.
So Rooster Teeth as it is today.
I’m happy for the folks who get to be part of the “big time” who never thought they’d get to do that. That includes off camera folks as well as the talent. It’s exciting times for most of the employees of the company.
However, they are dancing to a new taskmaster now. Rooster Teeth, its CEO and founding fathers…they really don’t run the show anymore.
As a long time fan, follower, subscriber, and yes, COMMUNITY MEMBER since 2003 I am both sad and disappointed. Rooster Teeth is no longer Rooster Teeth. It’s just part of the Warner megacorp. There’s no room for a real community in the board room, that’s been made obvious.
This used to be the place I posted my artwork, made friends, engaged with others about RT shows, movies, the world and life in general. Remember when being featured user actually meant something?
Like its content the RT community is scattered across live stream chats, instagram, twitter, youtube, tiktok, facebook, discord, reddit, local IRL RT groups, tumblr, twitch and I don't know how many other places. You'll notice I did not say the Rooster Teeth site.
My subscription is due to renew tomorrow. I’ve been on the new site beta since it opened and….no comment.
So, while I will probably continue to enjoy free content from Warner Teeth I will give my financial support, not to a conglomerate that made 31 billion dollars in 2017, but to another small start up where the creators will occasionally interact with me and other supporters and where I am not taken for granted.
Goodbye gold star.
