Here are my thoughts no one asked for on everything going on with RT and AH.
This my first time posting to the site so bare with me.
I want to start off by saying that I support everyone who has shared their personal stories and experiences about how they were treated in the past while working for RT. But the thing that I can't quite understand is the shock and surprise from the community. I've been a community member in some way or another for over 10 years at this point, and never once did I think anyone at RT was perfect or that the company was some magical place where dreams came true. No company is perfect and they all make shitty mistakes from time to time. This situation is no different.
The only thing that can happen now is for RT and it's management to learn from what they did wrong in the past and fix it. That is exactly what seems to be happening. I'm sorry for anyone who had a bad experience or who suffered some form of abuse but that doesn't mean these things are still happening to the people working there today.
As for the community I'm actually very disappointed in so many of the responses I've seen on the site and on Twitter. You have a right to be upset. You have a right to feel betrayed on some level. But let's not forget the amazing people who are still with RT and who plan to stay. Calling for the distraction of RT/AH as a whole is about the most selfish thing anyone could do. What about their families? What about their jobs? They don't deserve to lose everything they have worked for basted on your emotional response to things that happened to people none of us actually know in real life. That said if you want to unsub and cancel your First membership go for it, no one is stopping you. But don't pirate content like RWBY to try and prove some kind of point. That only hurts the hard working people that took the time to make the content you still obviously enjoy.
My point is, RT and AH are trying to move forward. The only way they can do that is with us and our support. "Burning them to the ground" doesn't help anyone. My heart truly goes out to anyone who has had problems with RT/AH either in the past, present, or future. And we should for sure hold people accountable for their actions. But not everyone can bounce back with a streaming carrier like Matt.
With all that said, as for myself, I have and will continue to support the creators that I love in the only way I can. I will not be cancelling my sub and I will continue enjoying RT/AH content. But I will do so hoping to see the change that's been promised.
Thank you to anyone who read this.
