It's been many a year since I've played a NASCAR game. Think the last one was 2011 game and ended up rage quitting that because it controlled for ASS so I did about a race and a half before sending it back to GameFly. There's been the NASCAR part of Gran Turismo 5 and some shit games that I watched Kurt J Mac play on the PC but I didn't play those. I haven't followed the sport in years as well. Last I watched they were putting in the Car of Tomorrow for the whole season. They've since got rid of that terrible Ricer design in 2011 and the cars are fast again and they're a LOT different from the last time I played.
For example, the dashboard. Last time I saw the driver seat, all the gauges were analog. Now? It's 1985 up in this bitch with LED Readouts!!! It's nice to see a speedometer on that dashboard, there used to only be a tachometer. Know that you're going 206 while drafting at Daytona. In Forza and video games I can see that but the drivers used to never know how fast they were going. Also they've added side view mirrors! Well, on the driver side in front of the safety net there is a small one now. That's great for when the spotter's not paying attention.
Playing the new expansion is cool as they upgraded and changed a few of the control things. Not turning and accell controls but more changes to the feel of the controls. With cars driving at 150+ MPH they push a lot of air out of the way. This air gets separated to the left right and above. If you're at another car's back left or right you are hitting the air that he is pushing away. You can feel the turbulence the closer you get. Eventually you slip into the gap of air behind his car and don't feel the wind anymore, just the speed up as you don't have to fight any air yourself. That's a really cool feature to put in. I don't know if it's in the rest of the game but I hope it is because it adds a cool effect of how to block your opponent from passing is to aim the air hitting him by shifting left or right.
Also upgrade to the HUD as you can see tire wear instead of just heat, how close someone is behind, to the side of you and when people are pitting. With the NASCAR additions they put in races where you HAVE to pit X number of times. Brings a strategy element to the race of when you're going to pit and what would be the best outcome to end the race with.
I've played it for about 2.5 hours and like it a lot better than the last 3 Porsche Expansions combined.
