It's June! We are featuring 6 different groups all month long on our social media, but we want to highlight the RT Community groups here too! RTUK RTUK has been around since time began (well 2005/2006 anyway) and our annual RTUK event is officially the longest-running annual machinima event in the world. We work to raise money for Special Effect through our events- a UK based charity that aims to make gaming more accessible to people with disabilities. The RT community has been such a rock for many of us over the years, and we aim to help bring people together during this time of madness, give people an excuse to play some games and socialize online! Our roots have been from in-person events, and we've tried a wide variety of those through the years from movie screenings to field days to house parties, among other things. We've had big and small events, and many of our members have formed lifelong friendships throughout. I would say those friendships we've made have been the foundation of the community. We love getting to know new people and make them feel welcome, and it's been a great experience watching friendships blossom. We're also very proud of our charity streams, which we've tried to do one or two of each year including Extra Life. Lately, of course, we've encouraged more online interactions and we've been hosting discord meetups to respect social distancing practices, but our members have still been as friendly and entertaining as ever. We're excited to continue trying new ways to bring our community together, and I personally am hoping that we can interact with other communities more and contribute to the RT Family better as a whole. We've kind of become a wild hodgepodge of people now, mostly from Europe cause we still do things in German friendly time frames, and it's where our base is. In the past, we've done a couple of small in-person meet-ups like a Scavenger Hunt at RTX London or a Board game night in Munich. We have also hosted 3 Extra Life streams of which 2 were the full 25 hours and raised a collective 1500$ - which we're very proud of since we're not exactly the largest community. As of right now, our Team is made up of 3 amazing women; Lena/merksmirs, our admin, who also started RT Germany, Jule/Jule_A, our lovely Discord mod, and Kim/Jackythewriter, our Extra Life mod. In the past couple of months, we have become pretty busy in our Discord with gaming nights once or twice a week, a monthly movie night, and just the odd hangout session where we'll all just chill in voice chat together. We're looking forward to figuring out our streaming/recording situation which we're testing out right now, so people can join us that way as well if they want to - which will especially be nice for all of our friends in different time zones who can't make it to our gaming nights. and of course, we're always looking forward to making new friends within the RT Community, so do come and join us! We are the new admin team for RT Maryland, Doug(aka SirDuggieWuggie), and Artkento! We are honored to take over this position and wanted to get our group out a little more! We try to do at least one monthly meet-up but with things the way they are now, we are doing a couple of online meetups a month to try and help keep spirits up! We do game nights with games like Jackbox and Spyfall. We would like to do movie nights as well! We have done meetups in the past like adventuring to Hershey Park, going ice skating, checking out the cherry blossom festival in DC, playing mini-golf, and much more! We are very welcoming and try to get everyone included in the conversation and meetups! We can't wait to get out and start meeting up with everyone once things are a bit safer! RTNC has been in JT Music videos, volunteered with rescue tigers and other big cats, had two 24 hour Extra Life live-streams, visited theme parks, rented a beach house, threw axes and hiked in the mountains, hosted a Super Smash Bros tournament in a theater, and have regular holiday parties across the state. We try to have events at different locations in North Carolina so that everyone gets a chance to attend. We've been having virtual hangouts lately because we are such a large, close community and miss seeing each other. Every day is a game day and we're always connected online.
