RTX 2012 Date Discussion
In the Drunk Tank today (6/1/11), Burnie briefly mentions perhaps moving RTX to try to get it away from Memorial Day weekend. Clearly, the date for RTX 2012 is currently being discussed by the RT Staff, and I figured we could have our own discussion about it here.
Personally, I think the pros of having it at this time far outweigh the cons! At least, that is true for what I could think of...
Pros:
School seems to be out for most people. At the very least, college/university students are out.
In particular, the University of Texas is not in session. This means there were far fewer people in Austin than normal.
Three day weekend allowed people to hang out an extra day. The Salt Lick lunch trip that 70+ of us took on Monday wouldn't be possible on a normal weekend!
Cons:
Hot as balls.
Close proximity to E3 means that RTX likely won't see the kind of announcements that the PAX events get. (Not sure if that is a goal of RTX or not)
