I'm probably not the first person to figure this out however it needs to be heard by someone that can fix this error.
The new system of a set time for queuing to begin in its simplest terms dose not work at the moment. In theory it could work if NO one was waiting for the queue to begin. What ends up happening right now is that even before the queue begins there is a literal crowd that instantly fills it. Even though I have no right to be complaining or to have a opinion on the matter I think a first come first serve queuing system is more effective and more clear.
At the moment it's like there is a weird hybrid of the set time queue and a first come first serve queue. What needs to happen is that the RTX staff needs to pick a side of the fence. Queuing needs to either go back to what is was and always has been or they need to fully adopt the new system by not letting anyone pre queue the queue.
Already in the first day I have run into 2 different situations where the queuing system has failed. The queuing for the expo hall was set to begin at 10 but what needed up happening is that 10 000 people had already formed a line far before that, making the queuing time obsolete. Another instance of this was at the on the spot panel today. I showed up right before queuing was set to begin, but I was informed that the queue was already full before it even began.
I am utterly confused this year on how queues are functioning. Personally I am going to ignore this set time queue and go to the panel long before the "set queuing time" begins. If the higher ups of RTX don't fix this problem this year hopefully they make up their minds by RTX 2016. This post is directed to the higher ups running the event who I hope don't ignore this post and flag it as just another ungrateful fan complaining about how they didn't get everything that they wanted and take it as a legitimate flaw in half of what makes a convention, lines. This is also directed towards the people who follow and/or will follow the set time queuing system. My advice is to completely ignore the system and show up an extra 1-1 1/2 hours earlier that what is recommended to you.
I hope that someone of importance sees this and that the attendees don't get fooled into thinking that showing up when you are told to.
Cheers.
Edit: This flaw is agin coming up once agin at the CAH panel. I would estimate a crowd of 500 people sitting in the JW lobby waiting for the queue to begin. The guardians are having trouble controlling a massive crowd with no place to go exept make a line for the line. I beg you RTX officials, re-consider this new strategy and fix this mess. My solution (consider it or not) is to have one line that begins when the first person that wants to see that panel arrives. This might create multiple lines for one room but it would give people a place to go and would I sure them a spot in the panel that they want. If you are a guardian please take this post or the basic idea of what I'm saying to your manager so that hopefully we an resolve this issue before the weekend is over
