RTX 2015 is an event that brings together gamers and game companies to celebrate the things we all love!
Saw this mess on reddit today and it was very validating to know my experience wasn't a one-time thing or just one disgruntled employee. Seeing this brought the memories back from this past RTX. Let me just say, it's a very beautiful hotel and there were some extremely helpful, sincere people at the front desk that went above and beyond to make each person feel welcome and comfortable. On Saturday night, half of our group of just-met-yesterday friends (let's call them Friend #2 and #3) went to the concert. Meanwhile, another Friend #1 and I went to a panel and then waited for the concert to end to all go to dinner (STILL regret not going to that show). Neither of us had any idea how late the show would run and decided to relax in the Starbucks area and charge our dying phones and overheated brains. At some point a security guard came by and asked if we were staying there. As a very last minute offer, Friend #2 was letting me stay with him at the Marriott and Friend #1 had his own room, promptly showed the guard his room key. Over the next two hours, I fell asleep in my chair only to wake up to the same security guard and another glaring at me. I apologized immediately, knowing that even though there was no one else on the floor at 11pm it still was not okay to sleep in public lounging areas. They listened to none of it and proceeded to tell me my name wasn't on the room I had given. Okay, cool. I get it. That sounds shifty. One quick telling of my college-broke financial standing and the extreme kindness of new friends (as well as another apology for the misunderstanding) later and they were escorting me down stairs along with a "you can't be here". #1 tried talking them and they demanded he show his room key again and loudly spell his name. Again, without hesitation he complied. Half an hour later, we are standing outside, away from blocking any doors/valet/sidewalk, and the guards come outside and demand we leave the premises or the cops will be called. Same explanation is given with an additional "our friends are walking here now". You don't know me, but for this you need to know one thing: I am extremely non-confrontational. I will do damn near ANYthing to avoid an argument or people not liking me. So, one last-ditch attempt is with the sincere addtiona of leveling with him about how stressful these weekends are on hotel staff and how he doesn't know me either, but I am a guest here and Friend #1 IS in their system. As a very professional response, I was accused of being a liar and my friend was ordered to give his information again. Friend #2 and #3 showed up soon after and, you won't believe it, security was nowhere to be seen! Go figure. I would have shared this with a manager or posted sooner, but the stress and embarrassment had me just wanting to put it behind me. It was actually nice to see this post today and know they can be known for pulling some crazy stuff. Phew! Okay, with all of that said, anyone else have a bad experience? [P.S. I don't want to start a bashing thread and I certainly didn't say all of this to say "don't have RTX there again!" Every other moment was a great time I won't soon forget :3 venting is healthy especially if it can be constructive!]
HOLY CRAP, you guys are awesome! We had a full house on our panel, and everyone seemed to enjoy our content and changes to everything! The Bracket Studio panel this year was great, and we hope to have another for next year! 3 years in a row? We'll see! You people are beautiful! <3 Well, my guys and I are back in San Antonio, and we quickly started our ButtonMosh Podcast for season two! So check it out here to hear about our experience, and our new YouTube development program, the Bracket Studio 2015 Synergy Initiative, where we promote any YouTube channel on our videos, just because we want to help! https://youtu.be/FDXKIyI-61s And to check out and sign up, go to www.bracket-studio.com/synergy for more! Thank you guys again! And let's chat! -Matt Oh, here's the video we ended with on our panel. It was well received, haha! https://youtu.be/mXGU5bPJKGA
I noticed that RT had posted panel videos on YouTube and then removed them. Is there any plans on bringing them back and if so, is there an ETA? Thanks for a great event!
I made this post on my journal but I think it fits here too. I wanted to make this journal since the day it happened last week but I couldn't think of the right way to put it. But now I'm just going to do it. On Sunday after RTX had wrapped up we had our post RTX guardian meeting. Tears we shed as the head guardians and staff thanked us for our effort and help. Big Red had the most heartfelt speech thanking Rooster Teeth for giving us a place to come together and make friends. A place where we feel home and have great memories. His speech really ties well into what happened after I left the convention center. I got a bunch of fans thanking me and cheering the guardians on, but that's not what this journal is about. After I left the convention center with my friend Mike and one other guardian we ran into a man on the street who stopped us for a word. I unfortunately thought he was a Urban Explorer (AKA Homeless) because that's the reaction I had to people approaching me on the street that week. I was wrong assuming that to say the least. He stopped us because he wanted to thank us, the guardians. He told us about his son, who was on the autism spectrum. He started tearing up as he told us how much it meant to him to bring his son here, to RTX and see him become a different person. Not the reclusive autistic son he knew. He told me how amazing it was to see him smile and have the best weekend of his life. He came out of his shell that weekend, talking to random people at RTX who share the same enthusiasm for Rooster Teeth. This man even said that he loved that his son could go and walk around RTX and the city by himself and be perfectly fine for the first time. He thanked me and the guardians for putting on this weekend for him and his son, but I really think the thanks should not just go to the guardians, it should go to the entire Rooster Teeth community. Talking to this man for the short time we had was awesome and inspiring in Rooster Teeth. This community is so amazing, we don't just share an enthusiasm for Rooster Teeth. We help each other out and make everyone feel welcome. This is the best community in the world. Together we helped a autistic child overcome his illness for a weekend. We helped a father see his son not only smile but also having a lifetime experience that I know he will take back with him to wherever they come from. This one weekend will change his life for the better. I hope it will help him come out of his shell more and overcome his disability in his everyday life, not just at RTX. Goddamn, I love this community more and more all the time. You guys and gals and dolphins are the FUCKING BEST. I love you. Stay awesome. DFTBA
So a fair amount of panels are basically live podcasts, or FAQ which would also be good as a podcast. And some are posted as podcast by the groups who have regular podcasts, post their recorded panel as a podcast. But I feel (didn't get to go to RTX 2015 myself) there are a few panels that would be decent as podcasts. One example might be the founding father's podcast. I'm not too sure where I'm going with this but I just thought it would be nice to be able to listen to these things in the background while I work. It was just something I wanted and maybe it could become an idea, and maybe become something with a lot of adjustments. This might be my first post even though I've been watching for years now haha. Thanks for reading.
FeedBack about RTX 2015
Just returned from an amazing weekend at RTX 2015. I would just like to thank the RT crew, the Guardians, the exhibitors, and generally everyone who helped make the convention awesome! If you have anyone if particular you would like to thank, feel free to comment below. Hope to make it down next year and see you all again!
She was working the RT Sidequest booth and i didn't get her name. She was super friendly and was the first person to say anything to me. As someone with extreme social anxiety, I really appreciated her kindness. And wanted to thank her once more.
On the last day i meet Michael. Michael is my all time favorite from Rooster Teeth i found Rooster Teeth with Michael's Rage Quit videos. RTX was the best Weekend i have ever had. It was sad leaving RTX all the people i meet the friends i made, am going to miss it, I can't wait in till next year. I know i look dumb in this pic, did't know how i wanted to smile
I noticed the RTX2015 videos were slowly being removed from the RT page. What gives? You guys streamed some of the stuff, even some of the big announcements were made off stream... Why take it down, or mark them as Private? Everybody's gonna find out from the community sites, why not let them hear it from the horses' mouth? What gives? :'(
Hello there everyone, it's that sad time when RTX is over (almost over if you count RT SideQuest night and day time lunch) and I don't know about the rest of you but I paid to stay in the country until Wednesday but now I'm lonely because all my RTX friends have driven/flown home now. Anyone else in the same shoes as me that thinks we should all meet up and keep each other company until we all have to go home feel free to post here and try to arrange a meet up of some kind, I bought SuperFight (main game + 1 expansion) so we could always try to find somewhere to play that.
Hello all. RTX noobie here (plus another friend), looking to join up with more of what's looking like a cool community. Myself and 2 friends have Cards against humanity (expansion 1, 2, and holiday). Superfight (core, red, orange, purple, blue) And we just bought pokemon monopoly (Kanto, Gen1, duh), if anyone cares for it Lol Admittedly, our small room (also somewhat cluttered with our stuff) is not going to work for hosting, so, we will be willing to bring these with us if anyone would like to host. OR, if you're in the Hilton as well, maybe we can play in a lobby or lounge or something? Assuming it's not frowned upon, Lol.
Greetings lovely attendees of RTX! I will have pancakes and be wandering around the hall(s) all weekend. I'm short with long brown hair. If you see me, or shout "OUTLANDER" you get pancakes! I'll keep you updated as to my whereabouts here and on Twitter (@0utlndr)
just saying.....
Anyone want to play Superfight at the Hyatt Place Downtown? :D I got the R Rated Deck, Super Fight Deck, Geek Game Deck and the Standard Deck! :P With all the After Hour things either done or currently going, would be fun to do something other than sleep and Netflix! =3 Let me know!~ Twitter: @TheQuagganDelta
I'm probably not the first person to figure this out however it needs to be heard by someone that can fix this error. The new system of a set time for queuing to begin in its simplest terms dose not work at the moment. In theory it could work if NO one was waiting for the queue to begin. What ends up happening right now is that even before the queue begins there is a literal crowd that instantly fills it. Even though I have no right to be complaining or to have a opinion on the matter I think a first come first serve queuing system is more effective and more clear. At the moment it's like there is a weird hybrid of the set time queue and a first come first serve queue. What needs to happen is that the RTX staff needs to pick a side of the fence. Queuing needs to either go back to what is was and always has been or they need to fully adopt the new system by not letting anyone pre queue the queue. Already in the first day I have run into 2 different situations where the queuing system has failed. The queuing for the expo hall was set to begin at 10 but what needed up happening is that 10 000 people had already formed a line far before that, making the queuing time obsolete. Another instance of this was at the on the spot panel today. I showed up right before queuing was set to begin, but I was informed that the queue was already full before it even began. I am utterly confused this year on how queues are functioning. Personally I am going to ignore this set time queue and go to the panel long before the "set queuing time" begins. If the higher ups of RTX don't fix this problem this year hopefully they make up their minds by RTX 2016. This post is directed to the higher ups running the event who I hope don't ignore this post and flag it as just another ungrateful fan complaining about how they didn't get everything that they wanted and take it as a legitimate flaw in half of what makes a convention, lines. This is also directed towards the people who follow and/or will follow the set time queuing system. My advice is to completely ignore the system and show up an extra 1-1 1/2 hours earlier that what is recommended to you. I hope that someone of importance sees this and that the attendees don't get fooled into thinking that showing up when you are told to. Cheers. Edit: This flaw is agin coming up once agin at the CAH panel. I would estimate a crowd of 500 people sitting in the JW lobby waiting for the queue to begin. The guardians are having trouble controlling a massive crowd with no place to go exept make a line for the line. I beg you RTX officials, re-consider this new strategy and fix this mess. My solution (consider it or not) is to have one line that begins when the first person that wants to see that panel arrives. This might create multiple lines for one room but it would give people a place to go and would I sure them a spot in the panel that they want. If you are a guardian please take this post or the basic idea of what I'm saying to your manager so that hopefully we an resolve this issue before the weekend is over
My friends and I don't have anything to do for Thursday night and curious if anyone wanted to hang out?
Anyone near the convention center want to hang out and play some hearthstone
