RTX 2015

This community is the best

I made this post on my journal but I think it fits here too.

I wanted to make this journal since the day it happened last week but I couldn't think of the right way to put it. But now I'm just going to do it.

On Sunday after RTX had wrapped up we had our post RTX guardian meeting. Tears we shed as the head guardians and staff thanked us for our effort and help. Big Red had the most heartfelt speech thanking Rooster Teeth for giving us a place to come together and make friends. A place where we feel home and have great memories. His speech really ties well into what happened after I left the convention center. I got a bunch of fans thanking me and cheering the guardians on, but that's not what this journal is about.

After I left the convention center with my friend Mike and one other guardian we ran into a man on the street who stopped us for a word. I unfortunately thought he was a Urban Explorer (AKA Homeless) because that's the reaction I had to people approaching me on the street that week. I was wrong assuming that to say the least.

He stopped us because he wanted to thank us, the guardians. He told us about his son, who was on the autism spectrum. He started tearing up as he told us how much it meant to him to bring his son here, to RTX and see him become a different person. Not the reclusive autistic son he knew. He told me how amazing it was to see him smile and have the best weekend of his life. He came out of his shell that weekend, talking to random people at RTX who share the same enthusiasm for Rooster Teeth. This man even said that he loved that his son could go and walk around RTX and the city by himself and be perfectly fine for the first time. He thanked me and the guardians for putting on this weekend for him and his son, but I really think the thanks should not just go to the guardians, it should go to the entire Rooster Teeth community.

Talking to this man for the short time we had was awesome and inspiring in Rooster Teeth. This community is so amazing, we don't just share an enthusiasm for Rooster Teeth. We help each other out and make everyone feel welcome. This is the best community in the world. Together we helped a autistic child overcome his illness for a weekend. We helped a father see his son not only smile but also having a lifetime experience that I know he will take back with him to wherever they come from. This one weekend will change his life for the better. I hope it will help him come out of his shell more and overcome his disability in his everyday life, not just at RTX.

Goddamn, I love this community more and more all the time. You guys and gals and dolphins are the FUCKING BEST. I love you. Stay awesome. DFTBA
