I visited my parents for the first time since February in a (mostly) socially safe way - we were outside most of the time and didn't get in close contact, especially indoors. It was a wild weekend:
Lots of cool birds (especially starlings!)
The citronella tiki torches actually seemed to keep bugs away
Saw what was likely a raven
Burgers from the grill
S'mores by the campfire
Bats squeaking
Heard yipping, might have been coyotes, might have been dogs
Heard what was likely a moose in the middle of the night
Later heard what was likely a fox
Saw a deer in the super early morning (and more bats!)
The hummingbirds have no fear
Saw a deer get hit by a car - driver was ok, his car was damaged but was able to drive away after the sheriff did all the stuff he needed to do
Heard and saw a hawk
Helped my father take down 35' scaffolding columns
Had an asthmatic episode (I don't have asthma, this was only the second time I've ever experienced not being able to breathe normally)
Temporarily lost my voice
Finally saw the indigo bunting
It was a really nice break from the city. I did/saw/heard more in 48 hours than I usually do in 2 weeks at home.
