A Fresh Start

Hey there party people. How've you been lately? Doing well? That horrible disease you were telling me about go away yet? Wait, you didn't want me to mention that?

So, things in my life have been pretty interesting lately. In case you haven't heard from me for the past forever that I've been talking about doing it,

I'M MOVING TO AUSTIN!!!

giphy.gif

Yes, following in the wake of countless RTers before me, over the years I've simply fallen in love with Austin and all it has to offer. The people, the food, the atmosphere, the weather, the Texasness, the sheer amount of things to do... It's all coalesced to equal the city I'd rather live in over anywhere else. I've become stagnant and unmotivated living back home for the past 2 years, and I'm ready to get A Fresh Start (see, this is how the title comes into play) in A Fresh Place with A Fresh Face as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Ok, so maybe not that last one.

Leaving the relative safety of home and stepping back out into the real world is something that I've wanted to do for a long time, and the day is coming soon that I'll be able to fulfill that desire. I've found a lovely 2 bedroom apartment in a great complex for a very reasonable price that I will be sharing with the boisterous @Felix. Special shoutout to the dude who did a lot of the physical legwork of sorting through the headache that was applying for the place, and thanks to him, we were able to get ourselves into the new place without TOO much stress on either of our ends.

You may be asking youself "So Hunter, I've already read a whole bunch of stupid text you wrote, but none of it has told me when you'll actually be in Austin! When the hell are you going to shut up and tell me already?!" Fret not fair traveler, because my official move in date is...

October 26th!

That's right, in less than 2 short weeks I'll be making the 16 hour drive from the old 'n busted Villa Rica, Georgia, to the new hotness of Austin, Texas! I'd have liked to be there about a week earlier so I could celebrate my champagne birthday in Austin, (turning 22 on the 22nd!) but because of lease stuffs I'll instead be using the opportunity to say goodbye to my hometown and homefriends. It's been a helluva ride to get to this point, and I'm ready to make the leap of faith into a new life in Austin.

I can't thank all my RT friends enough for being as incredible as they've been over the years. Coming to RTX and having all these cool and unique people in one place every year has certainly played no small part in my decision to move. Sure, the vibe of visiting once or twice a year when many people from out of state are in town is different from actually living there and mostly just seeing the locals, but the underlying pure awesomeness of Austin has always been a rock solid foundation that's made RTX feel like buttercream icing on a VERY delicious cake. Plus, this way, I won't have to beg people to let me stay with them when that illustrious time rolls around again!

I suppose that's pretty much all for now. Another big shoutout to Felix for helping me get to this point, lookin' forward to being roomies with you bud! If you're a local in the Austin area, feel free to drop me a line any time! Many wonderful days and fun-filled nights await, and I can't wait to see it all! Ciao!

2 weeks notice! (PAX East)

Ok, so more like a week and a half, but it's better than usual.

You all see where this is going, right? PAX East is upon us once again (It seriously feels like PAX South was not even 2 weeks ago), and I'm in need of lodging once again! I promise one of these days I'll write a journal that's not hotel related, but for now, I must beg.

I know there's a pretty large number of you coming to PAX East this year, so with any luck I'll be able to find a room with some time to spare for a change. If you or someone you know has some extra room in your hotel for PAX next weekend, please let me know and/or send them my way! I'm more than willing to pay for my share of the room/pizza/taxis/booze/etc., and I always try my best to take up as little space as possible, which is pretty easy when I'm able to travel with just a carry-on and my backpack.

PAX South was a great weekend, and PAX East 2015 promises to be one of the best PAX's in memory! I can't get there without your help, and any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone! Y'all da best

You know the drill

It's that time of the year again: PAX time!

As all of you are intimately familiar with by now, I suck at planning where I'm staying at cons ahead of time. I have a good reason this time around, I was not sure up until a day or so ago whether or not I would be going to PAX South at all, and I was just given the go-ahead to proceed with Operation PAX. So now, here I am making my standard journal begging people to let me sleep on their floor during the convention!

I know we've been on this road more times than I can count, but it's always appreciated when someone has a little extra space to let a Slayer stay. Of course I would pay for my share of the room, chip in for rides/pizza/beer, yadda yadda you know this spiel already. No need to tell me how much I suck at this, I'm already intimately familiar. So if you or someone you know has a little extra room for the weekend, please let me know! I'll most likely be arriving Thursday night and leaving by the time the con is over, but as you know my flight situation is very fluid so that could change depending on what works best for whomever I end up staying with. Thanks again everyone! Y'all da best

RTX 2014 Guardians

Still in need of a place to stay! Halp!

Hey party people. I know I'm INSANELY late in getting this done, but I'm still in need of a place to stay for RTX. One of those things that I kept putting off until the last minute I suppose, heh. Anyway, if someone still happens to have some spare room wherever they're staying, I'd be super grateful if you could squeeze me in. Of course, I'd pay for my share of the room, and for pizza or taxi rides or whatever. I was hoping to get into town tomorrow (the 1st), and stay till the 7th or 8th. I don't need to stay the whole week, I'm sure once I'm actually in Austin I'll be able to find a better solution through all of us actually being there, but for at least the 1st and probably the 2nd I'd like to have a place I know I can stay. If you CAN harbor me the whole time though, that'd be awesome!

So if anyone still has some spare room, please PLEASE let me know! I promise, I don't bite. Only a few days before Guardian duties begin! Can't wait to meet everyone!

(P.S. I already had this posted in the roomshare thread, but at this late in the game I need as many eyes to see it as possible.)

World's Worst at this; Need some help for RTX

Well. Certainly has been awhile since my last journal post, eh? Last one I did was aaaaall the way back at RTX 2013! RTX is the main thing I want to talk about, because I'm in need of some assistance.

As some of you know, I can be either really good or really bad about making accommodation arrangements. The past 2 RTX's I was able to organize quite a few people into the townhouse just south of the Austin river, but for the past... several PAX's, I've tried asking around at the last minute to see if anyone had some spare room they could put me up in. Well, this year it's the latter for me; I still don't have a place to stay for RTX, and seeing as I'd like to be in town on the 1st, that's kiiiind of a problem for me.

Now I know some of you will chide me for putting something as important as this off until the VERY last second, but with all the insanity surrounding my life the past few months, it just kept coming up as "something I'll get around to later", we all know what that's like. Well, it's quite a bit past later at this point, and I need to do something about it.

So here's my open call. If anyone has some spare room to fit one extra Slayer for RTX this year, I'd be eternally grateful if you'd let me stay with you. Of course, I'd be perfectly willing to pay for my share of the room (or whatever you've got), chip in for pizza and taxi rides and the like. I was hoping to get in to Austin on the 1st and stay 'till around the 7th or 8th, so if that involves staying at multiple places I'm totally fine with that. I'm also going to be a Guardian this year, which will involve a LOT of work, so I most likely won't be at the room the vast majority of the time. If you or someone you know has some extra room at any point in that timeframe, please send them my way!

I'm gonna do my best not to leave these things until 2 days before the event anymore. I've been going through a lot of life changes recently and I really do want to be more punctual and on top of stuff like this. So again, if you have some spare room for RTX, please please PLEASE let me know. Thanks a bunch y'all, I love you guys.

High quality RT logo?

Who'd have thought finding a high quality copy of an Internet company's logo would be so hard?

I'm trying to find a really good quality Rooster Teeth logo, just the rooster and the teeth with a black background, but Google has given me nothing but small photos. Anyone know where I can find a high-quality one?

PAX East, m'kay?

I'll keep this short and to the point. I still need a place to stay for PAX East in 2 weeks. If you're going to PAX East and have some spare room where you're staying, pleeeeease consider letting me stay with you. I can pay for part of the room, and I'll even sleep on the floor if need be.

Help a Slayer out!
