I am really wanting to host a year long read-a-thon because I have a huge TBR pile, and I need motivation to get that pile smaller.
If you would be interested in joining, I have a forum post detailing it. Clink this link to go read the post!
I would love to have as many people join as possible!
Would anybody in the RT community be interested in joining in on a read-a-thon to read through the Alphabet for the year?
The way it would work is you have 26 letters in the alphabet, and 52 weeks in the year. That gives you two weeks to read one book. If you are a slow and A.D.D reader like I am, this gives you enough time to read each book.
Each book will represent the letter of the alphabet. You can either go strictly based on the Book title (Excluding the word The), strictly the Author's name (First or last which ever you prefer), or a mixture of the two to make things easier!
I am thinking about starting it in two weeks (I was going to start it yesterday, but didn't actually start being real about it until a couple of days before hand.) So I would start it on July 17th, 2017, and the read-a-thon would end July 14th, 2018
Please leave a comment below if you would be interested! I can do reading sprints on here, instagram, and twitter to help encourage each other, and even if you finish a book, you can keep going forward with the alphabet if you would like.
I just need a little bit of motivation to get through my TBR pile, and I thought this would be a great way to do that!
MY BODY IS READY!!!!!!
..Just started watching RWBY, and he likes it!!! That makes me happy.
I bet you are wondering why I haven't made him watch it by now. Well he's a grown adult, and I'm not going to make him watch it. He expressed interest to watch it in the past, and when he is ready to watch it, I will be so supportive of it.
I love him, and I love it when we get to enjoy things together. This is going to be one of those moments!
...A couple of weeks late, but it's better late than never.
The week that Buff buddies started, my Husband and I had just gotten back from our honeymoon, and we both got really, really sick! My main workout journey is to increase my endurance, and it's really hard to do exercises to increase said endurance when you can barely breathe! I finally have healed and gotten better this week to where I can start exercising that intensely.
So I play roller derby. It is a sport that relies heavily on endurance, agility, and most of all leg and core strength, especially when it comes to getting to play in an actual derby bout (or game). I haven't really skating in the last couple of months because of wedding planning, and getting sick (Not just these past two weeks, but also for a week and a half in October.) I have lost a lot of ground in my skating ability because of these things, and I would love to get back there.
So to actually be able to hit, and play in a roller derby bout, you have to be able to pass the MINIMUM SKILLS ASSESSMENT!!! It's basic skills that are commonly used in a game of roller derby. It takes a lot to pass all of these.
I normally have a good grip on getting all of these done, but the thing that has been getting under my skin is the fact that I have YET been able to get those 27 laps in 5 minutes! I hate them!!! It has haunted me with the fact that I have yet to get these freaking laps in the two and a half years of trying!
So I WILL have those laps, and all of the assessments by our first bout of the season (Which I think is in February.)
So Wednesday I got back on skates on Wednesday, and I got my 27 laps in at 5 minutes 36 seconds. I will improve.
Something I want to try is wearing ankle weights when I do any type of endurance laps (including the 27 laps.) I have heard this helps people. I also want to start skating a lot more outside of derby to get more comfortable with my skates (Also with ankle weights).
The other things I want to do is doing all of the workouts (and meal plans) I did during the 21 day superhero challenge that I did in the last week of September, and first two weeks of october. I felt like I was the most energetic, most focused during those three weeks than I ever have in my life. That means doing set intense workouts every other day, and on my off days doing some kind of movement for ten minutes and ten minutes of stretching (either static stretches or using my foam roller). I will post a picture of the workouts I will be doing.
My meal plan will be paleo-ish. I am cutting out all sugar again because I felt like crap before the challenge, and I started feeling crappy after the challenge when I started eating sugar again. I will be drinking a third of my weight in ounces of water. I am cutting out refined carbs, and alcohol (Which I don't really drink anyway), and I will stop eating after 8:30 so that I can give my gut ten hours to heal and rest after eating, because your gut needs time to heal, too!
So I weighed myself on Wednesday and I weighed in at 247.5 My goal is not necessarily to keep a track of how much weight I have lost, but if I got down to 210 or lower, I would not be upset. :)
So here's to hoping I get those laps, and pass all of my assessments!!!
