also I think you should automate the basic needs but decide what's going on between your sims in the setting that or make them all autonomous or completely under your controll maybe even custom build your " house " when I played I would make a big building for main needs and then sepreate out bedrooms with everything they need for there job or hobbies eventually making enough money to add on extra bathrooms and such to there own separate rooms based on there incomes
