I can't help but wonder – was that question from you, @Merksmirs? :D
I don't think most people have seen a cat in heat. A cat in heat will ABSOLUTELY try to hump you. We are just very good at keeping cats neutered.
As Gavin learned, much to his distress. :D
Hate to be that guy, but... the Toxoplasmosis affecting humans thing was debunked last year.
The paper is at the site below:
http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0148435
Who wants to bet that paper was written by three cats standing on each other's shoulders wearing a trenchcoat.
we all know you love to be that guy
Naw they didn't debunk it. The researchers looked at human behavior in terms of some personality traits and some potential negative effects (e.g. schizophrenia, aggression, etc.), which they debunked. But they didn't look at whether infected humans become more attracted to cats!
Personally I don't mind getting infected, if it means I can serve my furry masters even more :3
It's too bad this was recorded before that study published I think last week which showed cats prefer human interaction to other stimuli and even food. Some cats, anyway.
i love this show and its a great show but i have been thinking this for a long time and i finally have to say it, why are Gus and sally changing clothes . we can tell its all being filmed on the same day because Chris ISN'T changing clothes so why try to create the illusion
It was mentioned elsewhere that those two did what they were asked to do for the production, but Chris couldn't be bothered. I agree it's off-putting and screws up the continuity, for the next batch they really need to make him do it properly.
Cats also behave a little differently with humans from what I've experienced and read. The vocalisations tend to differ from when they'e communicating with cats to when they're communicating with humans and they can distinguish their owner's voice from other voices. There was also a study in 2007, Edwards et al. I think where they found that cats are more attached to their owners than strangers (more nudging etc.) and they experience separation anxiety, so they do seem to have favourites!
This is awesome!
American movie Zombies are more likely a hybrid of the african/haitian zombi and vampires. Zombi of Africa and Haiti are actually based in reality.
Creating a Zombie: Bokor(or black priests) will create a very complex drug made of native minerals, herbs and usually bone matter. Though the most important ingredient is Tetrodotoxin which is found in the pufferfish, porcupinefish, ocean sunfish, and triggerfish. The powder drug would then put around the entrance to the victims home. At this time most people in these regions would have bare feet, the drug would enter the blood stream through the pores in their feet. This would cause paralysis and a lowered heart rate. In Haiti during the 80's they were still quite behind in medical technology so a large amount of times people under the influence of the drug were pronounced dead and buried. The Bokor came to collect. He would exhume the body and use a different powder drug(one that would cause a massive amount of skin irritation) to "awaken" the zombi. So the effects of being buried alive and then awaken by a skin-inflamatory, causes one to become very detached and also to have lesions on the skin from the itching due to irritation.

i'm interested in strange stuff. I also like to share what i've learned with others!
One of my cat-owner friends was just telling me recently about the whole "cats think humans are just weird cats" thing, very cool to hear the expanded thoughts on that!
As a bird person, interesting tidbit about pigeons:
Pigeons are very smart and, like dogs, are able to distinguish between humans and themselves (not all birds are like this). However, pigeons basically behave towards people just like they do towards other pigeons.
Am I losing my mind,.. or did Sally just play 'slip-n-slide' with her cat vs. dog facts?
I do LOVE that Chris & Sally hit on the parallels of vampire/zombie propagation. (yeah, Ima Nerd.)
Either way... STILL tuning into the next episode.
this is an example why I don't watch this show
so my cat loves me but as if im a cat...cool. im fine with being a cat
