I like this show
So evolution is super slow, and humans advance stupidly fast.
Humans always want to be better and are very good at making themselves better at tasks, jobs and the like.
So as far as modern human advancement, would humans go the Warhammer 40k route where we can genetically change our person to be better suited to certain situations (eg, the post-human Astarte for war) or would it be more likely to go the Deus ex route and attain personal advancement through the development of robotics either in small mundane forms like robots that help heal injuries or the full blown augmented super soldier route.
Maybe relating video games is a poor example, but in this day and age its similar if I were to refer to an Isaac Asimov book about robotics vs a Huxley dystopian interpretation of a genetically created hierarchical class structure story.
I think culturally, at least at this time, there is more resistance to large scale genetic modification/experimentation on a human level, so we would expect more growth on the technology side.
I think it would depend on which technology is available first.
Unfortunatly, I think that when they both become available, there will probably be a war between the augmented and genetically engineered, with regular human (the ones who can't afford either) caught in the middle.
As always the particulars of the problem, the cost of each solution and the social attitude towards the solutions will likely determine the result. Which would you prefer?
One of the reasons our species "advances" so quickly is due to memetic evolution - or the evolution of ideas. This isn't unique to humans, but we certainly take it extremely seriously. We're already well down the path of chemical, medical, and technological modifications to human ability - however ideas such as selective breeding and genetic manipulation tend to be met with very intense opposition due to our desire for individual liberty. I'd suggest this is due to our empathy and the social nature of our societies, which would mean it's very unlikely this will change any time soon.
I think the Nazis are the most well known group who put a lot of time and energy into human experimentation, and trying to produce super soldiers - and they are very unpopular.
Sally is always so excited and I love her attitude. Wonderful show!
How many test episodes are they going to do before it goes public?
Okay why is Gus in front of a green screen?
Probably because Sally is too.
I bet Gus got extra test episodes because Gus.
All this talk about hair makes me really appreciate my long hair.
Sally Le Page really need to come to RTX and do a live show.
This can't be the last episode. Greenlight, Greenlight, Greenlight!
This show needs to be longer. It just starts to get into a groove, and then it's over. It should be a half hour long.
Also, the production has improved from episode 0.1. It's much more polished now. No more wild fluctuations in volume.
So, if African hair evolved to keep heat out, could the European hair have evolved to keep heat in? In northern climates, you lose a lot of heat through your head.
