@bbacon I concur as well. The series has had its ups and downs, and the criticisms are not unwarranted. But unfortunately that has turned most people away and made it a bit of joke in the anime community so now no one knows how good alicization has been.
I’m a big fantasy novel buff; Stormlight Archives, Wheel of Time, Malazan Book of the Fallen, ect. Re:Zero is surprisingly one of my favorite fantasy series that I have ever read. There is a ton of lore and world building that is and will be unfortunately left out in the anime adaptation. Season 2 is when the series essentially stops being an isekai and becomes a full blown fantasy.
Controversial opinion, I didn't enjoy Re:Zero at all. It just felt like Suffering the Anime where our character is a complete moron who doesn't understand that when he dies he jumps back in time and I don't care for any of the characters on a personal level
I mean it’s not really shinra that’s the problem it’s more that one girl character with the Nekomata fire ability. She was purposely written to have characters get her in unwanted horny positions which actually get less bad as the anime goes on but it’s definitely still a problem.
@PinKCarnagE It does get less abrasive, but I can't comprehend how people aren't able to tell that it's clearly satire. They're pretty self-aware of the trope.
Them: OMG! I watched that show its my favourite! Totally S teir.
Also Them: I didnt watch that show, but I just know its not good. C Teir.
Me: *visible confusion*
