I said it when it was live, and I'll say it again here, huge respect to Tyler for his comments on Baylor.
I live in Waco, but go to college in Boston..............
I love when they get serious, this show is fun and silly but when it matters they say the truth. Tyler really cares and knows about this stuff. " things I have always thought and were brought up. 1) Athletes (celebrities in general) should be held way more accountable for their actions. Tyler is right, if who bring out a random guy and hes done the same wrongs as an athlete he is treated completely different. I don;t want to compare because athletes here in the UK have their fair share of issues but I do think in the US they are treated to a completely different level and are given passes for things they shouldn't be.
2) The media. I have so many issues with the media in general. Whether its sports or not, proper journalism i.e finding the truth is much harder to find these days everything is sensationalist. What headline can I generate to make sure you click on my website etc.
I could say so much more but dont want write an essay. But I love when Tyler and the guys preach the truth and call people out.
Also I find it funnyhow US folk find it so difficult to pronounce English city names. Just for the record its not Lei-chester its pronounced Les-ter.
What's crazy is that I'm a CO at the prison where Tevin Elliot is locked up
When they talked about sexual assault problems at universities in America, as someone from England, are the talking about professors and teachers assaulting people, students, or a mix of both?
Usually they mean student on student.
It's usually student on student, but in general it's a culture of hiding things and not dealing with problems, so I imagine there are students and professors who have been assaulted by students, professors, and administrators without the administration doing anything about it.
Tyler you flaccid microdick talk about Basketball
Tyler has been killing it lately, props to him for bringing this shit to our attention.
Huh. I attend Baylor. Let's see what this is about.
Show a good Loser? Try Manning in the last Superbowl he was in. He threw a crap ton of interceptions, he had a terrible game, and he pretty much was a big reason his team lost. But at the end of the game, he still held himself to a higher standard, thanked the fans, signed some autographs, and treated his loss with some dignity.
would love to hear them talk about the 6 nations!
As a fan of Sportsball from day one and as a Penn State student, I feel the need to clarify one of Tyler's comments. I completely respect his opinion and support his stance on the pandemic that is sexual assault on college campuses. However, he briefly compared the statement made by Baylor's coach to Penn State's handling of the Sandusky Scandal. There has never been any doubt that Graham Spanier (the president of PSU at the time), the athletic director, and Senior VP had knowledge of Sandusky's actions and chose to cover it up. However, the Freeh Report took one vague comment made by the AD in reference to Coach Joe Paterno and extrapolated that to mean that he knew and covered it up. To someone who is unaware of the situation, Tyler's comparison may seem to imply that Paterno covered up the situation. Sandusky was convicted beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Spanier, AD Tim Curley, and VP Gary Schultz are still facing charges. Paterno, on the other hand, was judged on a suspicion. That being said, I am confident that the student body of Baylor, much like the student body of Penn State, is not happy with the way their administration is handling this issue and hates they way it makes them look as a whole.
As a Temple student, who had a whole bunch of people from my highschool go to Penn State (also known as PW grade 13), I need to clarify something to you. You guys are a bunch of privileged, out of touch children who care more about a damn game than the safety of children. To this day, you guys lie to yourself to justify your bullshit protest and continue to defend Joe Paterno. The asshole knew, and he did jack all about it. He's just as guilty as Sandusky. Sandusky was a fucked up individual, who could argue that he had no control of his actions. Paterno was supposed to be a rational, competent adult, and he let it happen.
Again, as a Temple student, I can related to losing an icon like that. Bill Cosby was our Joe Paterno, and I can tell you that not one Temple student or Temple grad is defending that asshole.
The whole Penn State student body needs to grow the fuck up.
(And let's be honest, Matt Rhule is the only person worth a damn to come out of Penn State).
@DrDudeManJones Let me start by saying that at the beginning of this football season, I watched Temple beat the shit out of our team. And you know what? I fell in love with Matt Rhule more and more as the game went on. I love the guy.
Second, I would never make a generalization about such a diverse group of people like that. Last semester my film class watched the "Happy Valley" documentary and believe it or not, most of the "privileged, out of touch children" spoke out against Paterno. On that day I made the same comment that I did today; Paterno never faced a trial nor were any standard evidentiary procedures followed. Therefore, it is wrong to condemn him. Do I support bringing back his statue and returning him to legendary status? No. But the line that the Freeh Report drew its conclusion from was this: "After giving it more thought and talking it over with Joe yesterday, I am uncomfortable with what we agreed were the next steps."
That being said, I encourage you as a Temple student to participate in the social media campaign supported by the student governments of Temple, Penn State, Lincoln, and Pitt encouraging Harrisburg to pass a budget so thousands of students don't lose state funding they desperately need to pursue a degree.
I knew a guy who used teach the English gen-ed there. He said there was a disturbing amount of essays about ending affirmative action and legalizing weed. I knew a girl who went to PSU, she was a militant vegan who would chastise people for eating turkey on thanks giving, she supported Paterno. I ended up blocking half of my graduating class on facebook because their social media post weren't "that is so horrible about those children," it was "why the fuck did they fire Jo-Pa." You yourself are still trying to justify your support of that asshole. So my "generalization" stands, the majority of Penn State students are out of touch. You guys are like a cult. School spirit is great and all, but goddamn you guys need to take it down a notch or two or ten.
As for the state funding....Well, I am not against it, but I don't think Wolfe will fuck us over in the style of Corbett. That asshole Corbett made his mission to destroy education in PA and then had the balls to stamp his name on Temple's new Science and Research Center.
