What We Do in the Shadows is the best vampire movie.
Since when is Interview with Vampire being gay a bad thing? It's Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise/Antonio Banderas sexiness, it's AWESOME. If you happen to read this Jon, most of Anne Rice's vampires are bi in the books and it's really good erotic, vampire fiction :) .
Andy, never change. I love the dynamic of the people on the show.
While I'm not a big monster/horror fan, I would have to say the best monster movie, of all time, because it includes ALL monsters, would have to be Scooby Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf. Obviously.
Agree, Alien is one of the best monster movies out there. Giving Alien: Covenant a shot. "It" also is one of my favorite out there. Although it was release as a mini series. I am looking forward to seeing the remake. They stated that it will be rated R, we will just have to wait and see. Monster Squad is one that I really enjoyed that is fun to watch and includes the classic monsters. Would Trick 'r Treat be in this category also? Such an brilliant movie. Definitely would recommend that one. Stake Land is also a unique take on the vampire genre movie.
Doesn't the whole "not human originally" requirement for a monster movie cut out werewolves, vampires, Mummy, and even zombies from the category of "monster movies?" It seems to me the defining aspect of monster movies is the conflict between humanity and nature, fighting something that cannot be reasoned with, and is, more or less, a force of nature.
I was kinda bummed they didn't talk much about Kong. I liked the top 3 but for me switch Jaws and The Thing
Ideas for future episodes: (Not that you guys need them lol)
-Classic Monsters (Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies, Frankenstein) and their old/new iterations
-Spoofs (Young Frankenstein, Vampires Suck, Shaun of the Dead, even the Scary Movie franchise)
-All about Remakes (or maybe the difference between a Remake and spoof?)
-Anti-Christmas movies (Gremlins, Iron Man 3, Die Hard) Movies that take place at Christmas, but aren't /actually/ Christmas movies.
-Movies Based on a True Story
Let Me In and Fright Night are actually great vampire movies, though modern and not classic fantasy. The beauty of both being that they do a very good job of following the classic rules of vampires.
agree! Let Me In is amazing, while the remake is great the original is sooooo much better
I thought of Van Helsing as an action/comedy. I do NOT think of it as a Monster Movie, because, honestly, it's really not. I love that movie because the outfits and weapons were great, the comedy of it is great. I liked the way Frankenstein's Monster was designed, but I just never saw it as a Monster Movie.
Van Helsing was horrible, not to mention the werewolf bunny hybrids
blessed up is a meek mill song
Predator 2 "technically" did establish that it was in the same universe as Alien. Near the end of the movie when Danny Glover's character makes it on to the predator's ship, he comes across a trophy room where a Xenomorph skull can be seen hanging on the wall.
I seem to recall that this was originally done as a simple nod to the Alien franchise, but then later served as a partial inspiration for the AvP movie.
