When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, they had to put me DEEP under. All the pain numbing stuff, anasthesia, locals, novacaine, laughing gas, the works. About halfway through the procedure, the dentist wakes me back up and tells me that I'm moaning too loud in my sleep and that it's scaring a little kid in the waiting room. Then he tells me he's going to turn the various gasses back on, but at a low enough setting that I don't lose conciousness, and he tells me to "try not to scream." On the outside I comply, because I actually did feel a little bad for the kid, but on the inside I was thinking "You're pulling my teeth out, you've put the numbing agent at only half strength, and you're asking me NOT to scream? I think this may actually qualify as torture!"
