lol I can't count the number of times a friend of mine has just put on a season of something she wanted to show me and I just... get invested, every time.

Flass logic there. Also I have had friends who say they hated anime when I was a kid. they were watching toonami and never knew anime was DBZ, Gundam Wing and Outlaw Star. I called them dumbasses and showed them the world of anime. now they love it and we still talk over social media to recomend each other different titles. Sometimes I will also ruin some of their favorite anime. I don't do it on purpose it's more of a accident. because they never knew or noticed the plot before. The biggest anime I ruined for them was Kill la kill. it was their favorite and now they refuse to watch it. they even sold the DVDs they had of the show. i felt super guilty about it.

My favorite anime is That’s My Uncle

ngl, that was me... was... My brother got me into a few shows when we lived together because he'd just put them on and said "alright, I'm gonna watch this, fuck off if you want." Problem was, when he tried to force me into a show, it became something I hated more than anything else. It made me see the horrible bs. To this day, RE:Zero and Ancient Magus Bride are the worst things I've ever watched, even though I will agree they're both gorgeously drawn and animated.

The way I got into some of the anime I like most right now was actually through the girl I had a crush on. I’d come over to her house to hang out, and she’d want to watch it. So I’d watch it too if it meant learning about something she liked and spending time with her. Win-win scenario

That is exactly how I got into anime.

I got a huge chunk of someone’s Halloween party into anime once by taking the downstairs laptop/projector and putting on Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust while everyone was drunk and/or high and they got ABSORBED. After that I just put in my Crunchyroll account and started Mononoke (medicine seller short series) and I about blew their minds LOL. Sometimes taking control of the screen is all you need to do!
