Not defending Nintendo's stance, but I don't see how this is a legal issue. Like. it's shitty, but is there anything legally requiring them to do anything about the drift? It would be one thing if they were shipping broken, but nothing guarantees that a product will never get worn out.

@Astarties Legally consumers are protected to a certain extent for certain things. False advertising, for example, is usually what game companies get taken to court over from the consumer level. There was battle over Vita and Killzone I think that resulted in a bunch of people getting some PlayStation bucks. Since Nintendo's refund policies are really bad they might run into trouble there too if the courts determine drift is actually a big deal and Nintendo isn't doing enough. From what I understand consumer rights is also about properly informing the public? So if say like 1 and 3 Switch consoles are going to experience drift and Nintendo knows that the court might decide they now have to disclose that information... I wonder if they could even be fined for withholding for so long? I am not a legal expert so I didn't want to get to into the weeds but yeah I think there is probably some legal ground here or this prosecuting group wouldn't have gotten this far.

@Astarties So, funny story, but I actually did a whole report on the class action against Nintendo in my law class earlier this year. One of the more recent accusations, and new lawsuit is that Nintendo has built in "planned obsolescence" to the joycons specifically for consumers to have to buy new joycons after their one-year warranty has already expired (this article: https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/a-new-joy-con-drift-lawsuit-accuses-nintendo-of-creating-a-…) That's not including anything that is declared out in the Class Action which started in 2019 and is still actively going on. Woof.

I started playing guitar in grade 4 (2005), and had a lot of trouble with some chords (mostly f and minor bar chords I think) and gave it up at the end of the year. Guitar Hero II was one of the reasons I picked it back up 2 years later and still play today, honestly probably the game that's had the biggest impact on my life.
