@CharmedAgain .... what happened shouldnt have but in the time of a pandemic do you really think it's wise to protest that way? more lives are being put at risk
@cmelo 1. The country is opening up independently anyhow. Plenty of states had plans to start opening in June. 2. It's called priorities. It wasn't necessary to get a haircut or eat out or even go into the office like it is necessary to stand up for those who can't and make a positive difference in the world. And 3. People protested during the lockdown (against the lockdown) weeks ago anyhow.
The decision to put up this podcast was for sure a good one. The more people that know about what's going on, the resources they can use; the better. I don't wanna single anyone out specifically as this is a community / human matter but Mariel has been a fucking leader during all of this. I've been following the donations on twitter and seeing the donations roll through minute after minute is so joyous.
@Benton01 completely agree! Mariel is a badass. Her speech about feeling immense shame about being complicit really got to me. She's right - we need to just say fuck everyone who would judge us and do what is right. As a white woman and an educator, I'm seriously taking her words, and the words of so many others, to heart and will be an agent for change.
