YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, CA was attacked by an armed gunwoman, who appears to have had a vendetta against the company over restrictions placed on videos she uploaded to the platform.
i mean. If what she said on her site about equal growth is legit from her then she's absolutely right!
I'm not saying going to the Youtube HQ and turning it into a shooting site was the smartest of ideas but she was definitely right with youtube only promoting certain channels and even hiding away others. Take RackaRacka for example. Not only does youtube stop their ad pays within around an hour after uploading but they will actively HIDE videos without informing the channel's owners and not allow them to make the videos visible again. The folks at RR have complained multiple times to no avail from youtube and have even recently made their videos 'age friendly', essentially removing any violence from the videos and bleeping out any swears and STILL those age friendly videos get demonetised. This is absolutely youtube censoring channels they don't like the content of and hiding away these sort of channels while pumping people like Pewds, Marki etc to the front stage. It isn't right and it isn't fair.
Now, like I previously stated, going to Cali and shooting at the HQ of Youtube isn't the way to do it. But there definitely could be organised protests by larger youtubers online or peaceful protesting outside the Youtube building.
@rupert_evans This is well know thing about Youtube though - why do you think that RT, having enough money, have chosen to duplicate everything they have on Youtube on their own site? - the problem is that no-one has yet come up with a way of taking the money that Youtube has left on the table away... though I'd expect that the company would have to be not a Western one due to the dirty tricks that are standard throughout corporate America.
What is this video ? It's about an event from 2 days ago and it only has info that surfaced right after the attack. Even newspapers are faster than this. I expect that the news on a news channel is actually new. This is a growing concern of mine with the Know lately, it's all recycled bits told by someone else. Make a story of your own instead of reading the paper to me.
@michinl they have to wait to make sure they get information right. not to mention not everyone may know/ not everyone has the full details yet. To more informed people like im guessing you are this isnt anything new and thats okay, this is for the people who dont know and want to know more
@charard That is only part of my complaint, the other part is that they're just presenting an other outlet's details and reading it in quotes. It's not really journalism and do research to make sure the information is right. It's just copy/paste and presenting it on your own channel. If that is what "The Know" now resorts to on top of being late. What stops me from clicking on the original news source next time ?
@michinl "The Know" does, to me at least, claim to be journalistic, only a news channel... I for one had not heard about this or many of the stories The Know talks about before I see it hear since I use The Know as one of my primary news sources and being in the UK this story has not been reported on by the newspapers at all. So... if I want to know more about the I click on the links provided on this site (at least on the old website I could - now I have to look up the sites they quote - that doesn't change the primary point that this is my primary tech news source these days).
@michinl I would say "The Know" does a fairly good job about checking the accuracy of their facts, that in and of itself gives them track record. Though they're not infallible, no ones information really is. I've heard mess ups like claims that CoD hasn't been to WW2 since CoD 3 and minor incidents of misinformation, but for the most part they're usually on point if not a little misguided 😁
