You know what, for our first xmas/my birthday when we started dating, my (now spouse) did a similar thing to Armando. He made CDs of songs that he thought I'd like AND also told a "story" of how we met/started dating/fell for each other/how i made him feel (emotional vulnerability, wow). It was incredibly sweet and they were some of the best gifts I've ever received to this day. It's been 8 years and we're married now, so it's good advice!

@kaley218 One of my last relationships We started dating I want to say like a month and a half before her birthday. But I had heard her complain around campus that she didn't have headphones to listen to music during lab time. I go to Target and grab some good (but not great) earbud headphones. She was thrilled with them. Yes I'm aware how much this sounds like a Google ad. The twist is that I was an ass and put them in a Victoria's Secret bag and she had no idea what she was about to open in front of all of our classmates. She loved the headphones and had them for the rest of our time together at that school.

my wife is a teacher and my tradition is I make her a back to school box. it's of new pens, sticky notes and other things. and one of the few times my wife has made cry (in the good way) is on our first anniversary of us dating she made me a book of important things that happen during our first year.
