My local gamestop used to be amazing. The employees knew what they were talking about, actually gamed and were just overall awesome people. The manager knew me so well that he would actually set aside some of the freebie stuff for me - especially pokemon stuff since I frequently bought cards and games there. Then all of a sudden everyone I knew was gone and these new people have no idea what they are doing. Just one example - I went in to pick up a pre-order and was told it had been cancelled because I hadn't picked up the game within 48 hours of the release date and all they had were used copies left. Confused, I asked when the game was released because everything I knew said the game came out TODAY. He checked the computer, said the game came out [that days date.] I said that's today. He checked again, saw I was right and found my reserved copy.
That was not the first nor was it the last time I had issues with Gamestop. And then I started hearing how really bad it had gotten for employees working at the stores. I've since cancelled my pre-orders and gone to other businesses. It's sad, cause I used to love that store.. but I wont be shopping there anymore.
whoever lit this video did a terrible job making brian look good...jesus this lighting jist accentuates ever wrinkle/ imperfection in his face....jesus
@spiralblitz Easy, 1 person at a time and only double coverage during the weekend! (In other words, impossibly and unreasonably) All hours are spent staffing keys and there’s hardly any left for any extra coverage
I worked there 9 years ago and it was just as bad back then. We had numbers for power up and reservations we were pressured to keep up. Pitted against one another daily for hours. Sad to see its worse now...
I was one of the top sellers at my Gamestop as an SGA and even as a GA when i asked to be demoted due to finally finding a job in my degree. I now only work /3/ hours every other week due to hour cuts and our DM making us hire another GA. Then I get in trouble when I don’t even reach my goals which is almost impossible with how many hours I work and most of my customers at the time being kids just buying currency cards.
Yupp. All that stuff he said is true. Except the pressure of losing jobs due to phones. That’s not the way it works or should work if there are district managers putting that kind of pressure on stores. Its honestly just a matter of time before Gs becomes a novelty store. The heads at corporate (somehow??) didn’t forecast the decline in sales and now they’re tightening the belt as much as they can at the expense of those who enjoy gaming enough to get paid a pathetic check for it.
