At this point in my life, I wouldn't trust any torrent site. I would just ignore their ransom demands and continue as usual.

This really isn't as big of a deal as it seems. The vast majority of the people that would watch the stuff that the hacker distributes are the kind of people who were likely to pirate it to begin with. The film makers/distributes should just suck it up, carry on as usual, take the VERY minor loss in revenue that this will result in, and update their security so that it doesn't happen again. All "giving into the hackers demands" would do is set a bad precedent for the future.
