Seriously? I am a major Star Wars nerd and I loved this movie, of course I would have preferred a Yuuzhan Vong trilogy but this works too.
Been a fan of SW since I can remember. I absolutely loved this film(Was just able to see it earlier today). Sure it had some problems, what movie doesn't, but overall I enjoyed the heck out of it.
It seems with some fans you just cant please them. First many were upset that TFA was too similar and now many are upset TLJ is too different.
I want to watch this, but I think it's gonna have a couple spoilers so I'm gonna hold off for now. If anyone who's watched the video is willing to tell me otherwise, please comment. I'm going to assume no reply = spoilers. Even if I get a reply, I'll check it before watching.
No spoilers. I’ve seen the movie and I watched this. The only line of dialogue in this clip that could be considered spoiler, is the one where you’d have to see the movie first and then you’d be like “oh I guess that is a spoiler.”
So yeah no spoilers in this clip. You can enjoy it before or after watching the movie.
if you wanna go in blind then I wouldn't watch it till you see the film
Loved this film, dunno what everybody is so pissed off about
Literally 90% of the expanded universe isn't fucking canon, Luke practically retconned midichlorians in this movie by himself for gods sake and its just blowing my mind how ass backwards some of these fans reactions have been from how much I and a lot of others really enjoyed the film, to this video or Kevin on Kinda Funny saying the new trilogy is going to remembered as badly as the prequels in 10 years. Did not at all expect a 50/50 split of extreme fan reception when people were gasping and clapping in my theater.
HARDCORE SPOILERS
I probably just gotta see it again but I absolutely hated the message it sends or at least ends on. its just really annoying how (from what I got out of it) it's telling everyone to not fight back and give up because nothing matters and if you fight for something you believe in your just gonna die and the fighting will never end. it also feels like it spits in your face and tells you that your alone and no one will come to help you if you ever need help, and with its stupid real world political shit it comes off like the guys who made it are telling you the viewer we don't need heroes now cause all heroes do is get people killed and that's fucking garbage (not saying that was their intent). it could have been about letting go of the past, forgiving yourself and moving on from regret ,and in doing so becoming a stronger person for it, but SPOILERS
Luke dies at the end so nope youre just gonna die if you stand up for what you beleave in in the end rey and the "rebels" escape and the first order are still alive the fighting will never end no one comes to help the resistence at all your alone and no one is gonna help you . the whole casino part is like they are saying hey all rich people are evil and only care about money even though princess leia organna and her father were rich as hell same with mon moffma. the whole time at least for me when I was in the theater the movie was telling me luke was gonna die then it turns out that hes a badass force user I was so happy and then he just dies anyway nothing matters
It's almost as if this' actually the second movie in a trilogy, setting up the low point for the heroes to soar back from the brink of in the third movie. We should just be glad they didn't go the "main character maimed, bad guys still around looming large, second main character captured or possibly written off" route. That would've made for a terrible movie.
*sigh* I can't get enough energy together to give any thought to it either way... I mean so a few vocal people are being idiots... what's new? I'm pretty sure the majority of people liked it well enough and that this is very much nota Transformers level of dire movie... really. Some people (vocal OCD perfectionists) need to get a life, it seems.
I usually appreciate the Know stories, but this was pretty glibly dismissive of the bad ratings The Last Jedi is getting. I grew up on the original trilogy but wouldn't consider myself a mad "fan-boy" (think I'm too old for that shit these days) and I found the movie hard to like (hugely misplaced attempts at humour, dumb plot holes and very "un-characterisitc" character arcs being the main concerns). There's also this article
which is a Rotten Tomatoes spokesperson defending the audience score as authentic. Appreciate this may have come out after this video was made, but the tone of writing and/or presenters on this video was very flippant to say the least. All for the "Porg-Hub" re-naming though!
Thank you for the Spaceballs reference. XD
I'd recommend seeing the movie twice.
The first time I watched it I was disappointed because it wasn't what I was hoping it would be. The second time I knew it wasn't what I originally hoped for, but was able to appreciate it more for what is was instead of constantly comparing it against my expectations.
It was too long, some of the jokes didn't land with me, but I was happy with a lot of it.
TLDR
Regarding my original expectations - "Let go, Luke."
Thank you for the Spaceballs reference in a Star Wars video. Holy Shit, they've gone to plad!
