Great thing about intergalactic war: people die. While it sucks, I don't think it would be terribly hard for them write her death off-screen.
They could probably do a CG thing, but have it be like those holo-telephone things they had in the original trilogy; Basically, have them communicating across a vast distance.
killing her and/or holo-phoning it in sound fine to me. but if, for some reason, they just reeeeeally need to have her directly on screen... I'd rather a re-cast look-alike than another awkward CGI character.
Don't know what Disney is going to do.
I agree that recasting is a very bad idea, CG will work but not good, writing her out will have fans question why Leia isn't in the movie since she is a big part of Star Wars (even though we know that sadly don't Carrie Fisher anymore).
I guess muppets are the way to go.
I thought CG Tarkin and Leia looked amazing, no idea what anyone else is talking about.
My bet is they write her out, saying she was killed in a battle and thats when kylo goes from sith to jedi. Just my thoughts on it though
I really hope they just kill her off it would be weird to a cg thing in episode 9
