Amber is actually used in incense a fair bit, and in a lot of historical lacquers. From making one of the latter, I can state that it would probably taste like pine sap, because amber dissolved in linseed oil smells quite piney. (Perhaps unsurprisingly, as many forms of amber come from ancient relatives of the Japanese Umbrella Pine!)
