in the original poltergeist in the scene with the dead bodies popping out of the water. those were real dead bodies. it was cheaper to use real ones then fake ones. they didn't tell the actress until after she did the scene.

@THB4 I believe it was actually because replica skeletons weren't super popular at that time, but became so shortly afterwards. Think there was only like one company doing it at the time and had been doing it since the 60s. It was like $3,000-$4,000 per skeleton at the time, so definitely cheaper to get real ones. Many medical schools used real skeletons at the time as well because that was the norm. Many supply companies weren't selling replica ones they were selling the real deal. Displaying skeletons and using them for education became a thing back in like the 18th century and there are many skeletons still in classrooms and educational environments today that are real. About 10 years ago, one of the classes I had, had a real skeleton on display.

@THB4 True. And the little boy was almost strangled to death by the clown doll. Weirder still, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland, California at one point had at least three real skeletons used for the sets. Since then, almost all have been replaced. Only the rib cage of the pirate pinned to the wall with a bird nesting in him and the skull in the headboard of the bed are still real.

I’ve heard a similar story about a member of my family having there body used for surgical practice even though he didn’t want it used for that but he didn’t have anyone who cared enough to say otherwise.

Being an organ donor is definitely the right thing to do. Donating your body to science is also a good thing. Either way, try not to think about the body farm. The body farm is a place where they leave bodies out, exposed to nature, so that forensic scientists can study the effects of the elements on rotting corpses.

I saw a story about someone donating their mother's body to science, and they turned around and sold it to the military who strapped her to a chair and just blew it up (blast testing).

My sister recently was talking about how donating plus size bodies to science is harder which just makes me sad because you'd think they'd want all types of bodies

The sad thing is, I know of a case where an 18 boy had been shot, and was possible brain dead, but they were pushing the family to take him off life support, because he was an organ donor. He was a victim of the same school shotting that my cousin was killed in. His dad was out of state, on a work trip, and they were trying to get his organs before his dad could even get back to see him. We found out what happened because His dad talked to my uncle. They had other kids that had been shot, and they thought he was a match for one of the kids. I am a donor, but I am probably going to set my body up to be donated to a specific medical organization, because I have two rare diseases, that are genetic.
