@MooingAssassin I think that says more about the owners than it does the cat itself.

@Qrow8580 Pretty much. My cat has never shit or piss anywhere other than the litterbox.

@Akalitus my cat is old and I love her dearly but she's not great at getting completely in the litter box. I bought a plastic mat and a cloth mat to put on top of that, that way if she misses I can wash and sanitize the mat. Definitely not hard to take responsibility.

@MooingAssassin It's good to know your limits and abilities as far as pet ownership. Some cats need special care, some require that you actually spend time with them, some need accommodation for litterbox needs - not unlike dogs or other animals really. If you want a pet, you've got to be aware of the various needs that come with a living, breathing thing in your care. So, I'm sorry to hear that the previous owners were unable to actively ensure their cat was cared for and that it's impacting your quality of life right now. I do hope if a pet is in your future, you love one another and all of your needs are met and supported! I also want a cat in the future, so I am incredibly biased, but ultimately just want folks to be comfortable/feel validated and enabled to live life well.
