Is this a Burnie's vlog or an RT Life?
They converted it to be under the RT life tag since the vlogs are now public and more about his doing stuff and more dynamic than just regular vlogs
Gotcha. I must've not been paying attention to the titles.
Did you break a mirror at some point burnie? you have awful luck. sorry dude
"4k camera blown off roof gone SEXUAL" lmao
"Brand New 4K Camera Destroyed Gone Sexual" Hilarious.
My question for you is as someone who loves RT and is a graphic designer recently out of college that dreams of working for RT someday how do meet/hire most of the people at the company? Ive started doing some AH and FH art that Im sending to the company but I wondered if there were more ways to get your foot in the door if you feel like you have something you can really offer to RT? Also my name is Ryan Hall as well, god there are too many of us.
It's not very helpful when they say just make stuff. If I had to recommend anything it would be doing something different than anyone else. Really think about what you could do that would blow their socks off while at the same time having it be something they haven't seen before.
They have answered this question several times: "Don't do your job because you want to work at RT. Just do your job and do your job well. Build a website, get experiences, and build a portfolio. At this point RT is so large that they get hundreds of applications for every type of job. They don't want people who do their job so they can work at RT. They want people who are passionate about doing their jobs in general."
My takeaway from this: If you apply to a job at RT with the line "I became a Graphics designer to work with RT" You will probably be rejected. Because that means you're passionate about RT, not about your trade. If you do not have a website and a body of work to show them, they are not interested because so so so many of the people they hire have no education, they just have portfolios and records of quality works, they don't put much value in a diploma anymore.
Never forget, Monty was not and educated animator.
You also need to ask yourself this question: Do you want to peek behind the curtain? There is a far different animal that is reality of being part of the machine than being a consumer. I can tell you now, the dynamics you see on this side of the camera are different than the dynamics on that side, and as such you may inadvertently ruin your own experience.
Instead of doing this, what about paying attention to them, taking notes, see what works, what doesn't...and then do your own thing? Find YOUR voice. Find YOUR direction. Let your future come to you.
Put together a portfolio of your work. Gather some references, and make content or art that appeals to you. Don't work only towards a career at RT. Periodically check the RT careers page and if a spot comes around that you believe you are qualified for then submit your application. Just keep at your art and design and work to be the best you can be and if a job opens up and you get it, then great and if not, don't be upset, know that you love your work and that it probably just isn't the right fit.
I can see the individual hairs in burnie's beard #4K
Hey Burnie,
I appreciate the honest answer. I can't say that I'm really happy about the answer, as the social aspects of the site are the most important to me, personally. I understand that you have to prioritize, and I understand that you have to focus on the largest target first.
That being said,
One of the things that RT can do to make the social community that inhabits the site feel a little more included is to use the site to push communication a little more. Right now if we want to find out about anything at all we have to go to Twitter or Facebook or Reddit or some other aggregate site in order to get information that is pertinent to us here. It's a little disheartening that people on Twitter know more about RT than we who have actively been Subscribers for years (or First depending on how you look at it.) I'm not asking for a whole lot...just more First communication for us who are...y'a know....First.
There are just my two cents from one old internet guy to another. Have a great day, hope you can get some rest during your crazy shooting schedule.
Yeah, I agree. 90% of my tweets are about RT stuff. I also asked a few months back to see if there was maybe a guild with lots of RT fans in a few of the MMOs I play and got 0 response...
I hope someone sees this comment and brings it up in a meeting. Just as a subject for discussion.
I had a question asking about unifying communication and I think it was nearly the second most modded question after Moe. Maybe the new site will take care of that question and he didn't think it needed to be addressed?
I'm glad they are working on the social media section of the site. I finally got a first membership for first week and i was looking forward to jumping back to the lively community I remember from a couple years ago.
Another soul claimed by burnie. When will it end.
Thanks for the honest, direct answer to Madmanmoe's question. I know everyone still on the site super appreciates it!
Also holy hell, 900+ notifications?
All Gus
That would require Gus to want to interact with someone socially
Jesus Christ, Burnie this has got to be like the 3rd time right? Phone, Drone and Camera right?
