A while ago I read something about how weird it is that people want their license plates censored, because they're already in the public domain, like, everyone on the street can see them. 

I mean, everyone here knows the bright yellow cell-shaded Tesla is Burnie's, you don't need the license plate to track him down...

Yeah, I remember this debate on YouTube a while back and the final conclusion was that license plates don't need to be censored since the information they give is only about the car and it's maintenance records. Even so, the plates are usually blurred out for the YouTube release...
