Isn't No Shoes and No Shirts part of Fan Service?
It should totally be No Shirt, No Shoes, But I Still Get Fan Service.
so just watched the newest Attack On Titan episode before this....
Attack on Titan manga spoiler: "it's like Armin was given a cool power" Well that just happened in the manga, Armin gets the colossal titan!!
You might want to edit that comment to say manga spoilers more prominently. Some people might click on it thinking you're talking about the most recent anime episode.
I hope they get a chance to talk a more about My Hero Academia in a few weeks, since it'll be interesting to hear their thoughts about Todoroki's backstory and the end of the Sports festival. Even if they aren't covering it week to week, I think checking back in on it every once and a while would be fun, especially since they had so much fun talking about it!
Victoria fit in so well with the rest of the cast, I hope we get to see her again!
That penguin is proof of reincarnation. I will collect signatures to get Anime playing nonstop in zoos incase I ever come back as an animal.
On the discussion of animating quadrupeds, in the Studio Ghibli museum in Mitaka there's a cool part that had a small desk in a corner and a video loop of a horse galloping for about 2 seconds or so. The detail he puts into everything and the study around it (like the skirt flapping in Kiki's) really makes his work stand out.
On the topic of copying, I was just listening to John Cleese's audiobook on his life (which might seem unrelated) and he brought up copying too. Basically saying to straight up copy stuff and the way you present it will change and become it's own thing over time. For him it was comedy skits, but for others it can be art, animation, acting, anything really.
(I'll go back over the book to find what he said exactly because it's really worth listening to.)
I love how Miles makes like at least one MBMBaM reference per episode now. tmtmtmtmtmtm
ALSO HELL YEAH SAILOR BEE.
Please let there be a butt load of Fan Service Merch.
If there's like that shirt but in 5 different colors, I'll be the first one running to the store to purchase.
Heed my words RT Store!!!
I'm currently only dropping coin on RWBY merch,.. But I'll include this shirt and more FS merch if they drop it.
Still waiting for the ep where they finally get babs on here to talk about hentai. You just know thats gonna be hilarious.
Honestly I hate that clip of snk so much. In the manga, when Eren and Annie fought for the last time it was nothing like that. It was a turning point for Eren because he stayed completely in control the whole time he was fighting her. Of course, considering the anime cut out the part that revealed that Eren and Annie were really good friends, I'm not surprised that they would cut out the subtlety and sadness that was part of that fight. Eren learned everything about combat from her, and he really trusted her. Eren had to take down someone he trusted, and maybe even loved, in order to protect everyone. It still makes me sad that we got that "epic" clip over an important moment of character growth.
@nbroderick Not really, no. Nowhere in the series is it implied that Eren would've "loved" Annie, and not only does the anime include Annie teaching him, but also Eren not being able to initially fight her due to having a hard time accepting she's a traitor. All the same character development is there and the anime just expands on that. It also makes your claims a bit weird as those expanded scenes were also run by Isayama who not only approved them but also requested some of them.
@rohie The anime did in fact, cut out the scene where annie offers to train eren. I went back and rewatched it to make sure. I included the "loved" part, because Mikasa is the one who brought it up in during that scene. My point is more about the tone here. The adaptation was controversial at the time because of those changes. While they did leave in the lines, the tone was completely different in the anime. Eren hesitates, and then ends up devolving into a fiery, uncontrollable rage, which I, and many others, felt undermined the character development. Eren devolving into a incoherent mess may have looked cool, but also detracted from his character arc. In the manga, Eren stayed calm and in control, with characters even commending him for doing a good job staying himself. The Eren in the anime was nothing like that. I recognize that isayama agreed to the changes, and I personally disagree with some of those. Especially the parts where they replaced armin with levi, or cutting out an important bit of characterization for your main antagonist of the season. You're welcome to disagree with my on my thoughts on whether or not the tone works, just as I am allowed to feel disappointed by certain parts of the anime adaptation.
@nbroderick The Annie teaching Eren stuff does come up later on in the anime, I just didn't remember whether if it was already there during that time (it's way more of a thing in the Armored Titan fight regardless). The tone change I can obviously see, but you also have to take into account how it was the finale of the season (and at that time the whole anime!) instead of just another chapter in the manga, so the fight needed to be played up a whole lot more in the adaptation. I personally think it ultimately works (if that wasn't obvious already) as Eren becoming more tactical-minded in combat and listening more to his friends is a theme in the series that comes into play more and more, but it more or less starts properly with the Armored Titan fight, so it makes sense that in the Female Titan fight he's still going berserk as he normally would which also fits as to why they essentially botch up the operation (in both anime and manga) by allowing Annie to "harden" herself amidst all the chaos.
So in the end, yeah, all the changes are there, but they're understandable and it's all ultimately done faithfully and plays well along with the series's themes (and like already said, all approved by Isayama as well). Except for the off-handed mention of "Eren loving Annie", that's not here or there whether it's in or not as it's so off-handed and more or less just shipper bait, at least to me.
@rohie yeah I understand why they did it. One of SNKs biggest problems (for the anime at least) is that it didn't really have a good ending point for the anime. The arcs flowed into each other, which meant they had to change things around for a satisfying conclusion to the season. I personally didn't think it worked, but then again a lot of people did. I also don't remember a lot of what happened in the series, I stopped reading it after the arc that's currently being adapted. I'm not following season 2 either. I think I'm bit harsher on the series than a lot of people are. I ended up not really liking the way the manga ended up heading, which was disappointing since I really loved this series for such a long time.
Anime is the only medium of expression that can make eating a bag of chips seem epic. So no, I don’t think there is any anime story too mundane to watch.
“The Great Passage” is a story about writing a dictionary. From what I have been told, it is one of the best anime from two seasons ago. The only reason I have not watched it yet is because I’ll be damned if I pay money to Amazon on top of my Prime membership. My favorite slice of life shows include Usagi Drop (a show about a 30 year old man taking in a 6 year old girl), Hanasaku Iroha (daily lives of a bunch of innkeepers), and Lucky Star (a bunch of girls sitting around talking about random things).
Anime just has the weird ability to make anything interesting. Or maybe, Anime is willing to take more risks than live action.
The great passage is so good, I highly recommend it. it also sounds like you would probably like Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. Both seasons are on crunchyroll, and it's widely considered to be one of the best anime in recent years. It's a period piece set throughout 1930's - 1980's, following the practitioners of the traditional Japanese art of storytelling. It sounds boring, but man is it so good. Also recommending kids on the slope and chihayafuru.
@nbroderick Eventually I am going to break down, use up my one free week of Anime Strike, and binge watch some anime. I was going to do it a few weeks ago, but I heard that Re:Creators is great. I will hold off a while longer. “The Great Passage” is definitely on my list.
Thanks for the recommendations, but I have all three of those shows in my queue. They will have to wait a little while though. I still have to finish my haul from the Rightstuf holiday sale, and a friend of mine lent me two series that I cannot wait to try. One is Nana (two girls move to Tokyo to chase their dreams, and find romance), and Dear Brother (a girl goes to an elite private school, and deals with bullying, and such). Plus, a friend of mine recently told me that owning Texhnolyze, and Ergo Proxy without watching them is a carnal sin among anime fans. I guess I should rectify that. Though, I think I was justified in putting Texhnolyze down when, in episode 1, it went 20 minutes (not an exaggeration) without a single line of dialog.
Miles.. I say this because I love you... you're getting fat. I know how easy it is to put on 30 or 40 pounds, its gradual and sometimes you don't even realize it.
