I want to recommend to everyone Land of Lustrous (Houseki no Kuni) as THE anime to watch this season. It is a fantastic show with amazing storytelling and characterization. It's also one of the rare anime that can showcase how CGI can be good for the format. Please watch ti.

Heres how I'd describe Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous):
Simplistically, narratively, it is about ageless gems defending against lunar beings. Underneath however, it is a show about growth and change, or more specifically finding your purpose and loss of ones self. A show that dances effortlessly between humour, drama, mystery and despair. And a show that is visually stunning in its use of minimalism, its use of colour and its wondrously fluid animation.
To say I liked it would be an understatement.

1) animation is way more modern than it's origin base: SBY (1974) ...
2) Yes - The original story predates Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica by 3 years. Star Blazers - the crappy American 'adaption' with compromised storyline, weird names etc relates to the '1977' you mentioned...
3) Storyline is probably best described as a 'Space Opera' and explores much more than fights and explosions - politics, morality and relationships are examined and challenged ... Character depth is rich and multiple characters grow and develop in numerous ways throughout the episodes ...
My favourite storyline/series next to Girls Und Panzer.

twiw ancient magus bride is a 2 cour show im 90% certain so its only 1/2 done so another 12 episodes to enjoy
