So weird and cool to hear Flint and the water crisis come up on the RT Podcast. As someone who's lived here through the crisis/my whole life, short answer: the lead levels are down to below government acceptable levels almost everywhere and many of the pipes have been replaced, but they're still working on that and we're all still using water filters and buying WAY too much bottled water. I don't even let my pets drink the tap water. There's not much trust in the government, including whether their guidelines for lead levels in water are even low enough, and whether the government has been transparent about the existing lead levels (past or present). City government mismanaged water crisis funds and our governor at the time, along with other high-level government officials, are still dealing with lawsuits and criminal trials. So it's not exactly over - probably won't be for years yet - but it's definitely better than it was, with the corroded pipes being removed. Thanks for bringing attention back to us for a moment! I really felt for everyone in Texas during the storm, glad y'all are doing well and made it through okay. And shout out to Blaine's neighbor!
