I have a bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies. There are 66 books that make up the Bible. You can think of them each as individual scrolls we have discovered that each contribute to the overarching narrative--the 'Old' vs 'New' Testament designations are to provide dividers to help us understand how the narrative flows, similar to chapter headings, labels, and verses (which were not present in the original manuscripts).
