Who doesn't like shooting and gathering loot? Turns out nobody, which is exactly what this game is all about.

@breakyoself2x yes and it felt very biased in the direction of "you should play this game". it had a lead up that made it sound like the division 2 is the crown jewel of the genre. so to me it seemed like it was a fluff piece written to promote the game, not to teach people about the history
I'm all for more long-form content, but this felt like it had no effort put into it. I mean, telling us that a modern shooter came from games like Quake and Doom? Really?
Put in more information. Give us quotes from people. Don't just say this game has the same systems as that game, because that's boring.
This was neat guys but as a community member, I think it needs a bit more cohesion. The essay didn't feel like it had a point, it was more random factoids about the shooter genre loosely looping back to squad based shooters. Most of the community seems to like these as well but the general vibe is they'd like it more if the video had focus and felt less like Gamestop Ad copy.
Can we get our definitions straight at some point? When I think "Tactical Squad Shooter" I think Battlefield, Rainbow Six, maybe even CoD. What I DON'T think is "loot". I don't think Destiny, Anthem, or Diablo. Those are, at best, loot driven adventures. This game fits nicely in the "Looter Shooter" genre.
