To me, the lawsuit seems like it's not gonna stand in court because there are bunch of legalese buried in the terms of service (which it's likely that they didn't read it) and having targeted ads isn't detrimental to you in any way. The app isn't installed on the iPhone by default so you had to go out of your way to put it there. By doing so, you're agreeing to their terms of service. Since this lawsuit is about before whatever Safari update it was that changed everything, it's harder to prove that Google couldn't do it. I understand the collecting and selling of personal data is a red flag, but it's on you to read the terms of service to know what you're getting into. Ignorance is not a defense (or offense in this case)
Had a recent Alexa-like incident, after more then a year going without soda drinks I suddenly had a craving for Dr. Pepper. Didn't see any ads on my phone or anything in the weeks before but half an hour after I bought the drink I suddenly got Dr. Pepper ads in my Instagram... a bit weird imo.
