ive often thought that in the last few years or so Youtube has been trying to kill gaming as a whole on the site. you dont see them as often anymore and with this update its clear that they are definitely trying to do that.
Well guessing PUBG will be flagged then...great
And yet there's still tons of ads that go with Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, and the like.
It's sad to see the age of YouTube slowly die out like this...
I only use YouTube to watch 'Let's Plays' like AH, Funhaus, Cow Chop Etc.
Advertisers are going too far, fuck them. I'm a god damn adult, they need to stop pulling adds from this content. I want to watch violent games on YouTube. Like I said, I'm an adult, it's me your damn adds are aimed at. Not kids, they're not the ones who spend money.
Sucks seeing YouTube be neautered by Advertisers. I'll just stop using the platform and boycott the advertisers who are too holier than thou
Wait so they rather have god damn diss tracks by little boys who call peoples parents sluts and bastards, rather than entertainment that has practically made the biggest creators on youtube?
Is it just me or does it sound like they are saying "Demunitized" half the time
surely the simple solution for youtube is for channels to be able to mark themselves as age appropriate (like films so u/pg/12/15/18) and allow advertisers to pick what they are comfortable with and if a channel says its pg say and they keep getting flagged they need to revise their age rating. you could also be more specific with checkboxes like violence/cartoon violence/game violence/explicit sexual content/implicit sexual content etc then advertises could pick what they are happy with. granted its open to abuse but if you flag a channel as being 18 and advertises are happy with that seems a workable solution
Couldn't Youtube find a way to make the ads targeted towards gaming videos/channels? Possibly send out a query to their advertising partners asking if they authorize their products to be advertised in gaming related videos/channels; and those that opt in will be viewed in said videos/channels. I haven't ever posted a video on Youtube so I don't know how it works, but if it doesn't already exist add some sort of option during upload that tags the video as to its content (Ex. video game, comedy, and etc.).
As other people has mentioned, if YouTube put in a system where advertisers had the ability to choose the types of content they are comfortable with then it would seem to fix a lot of the problem. That way 'family friendly' brands, who seem to forget YouTube isn't and wasn't meant to be family friendly (that's why YouTube Kids exists), can choose to not serve ads to teen or mature content instead of YouTube's blanket demonetization for any 'sensitive' materials.
Their ad service doesn't even adhere to their own demonetization guidelines. There has been tons of ads served to me that promote alcohol, violent games, Hyper-sexulized (Pop) music videos and even other 'offensive' channels that payed YouTube to run a 2 minute 'promo' video using music that was rampant with slurs like the n-word.
Unless YouTube figures out how to better target ads for the type of content being uploaded then YouTube will die as a video platform for the majority of content creators.
