Google does have a sorta monopoly on this sort of thing but a lot of that has to do with the fact that they are one of the best and have been around for a long time and so people are familiar and comfortable with them. The majority will always go towards the best/easiest route and the most familiar route which means that even though there are others out there they can't really compete with Google.
The one thing at least is that unlike some other monopolies there are at least some decent alternatives if you truly don't want to use Google. But you would still be gimping yourself most of the time to use those other alternatives.
There are indeed better solutions and easier solutions than Google but you would indeed gimp yourself if you currently do everything using Google... the only real thing that Google is is familiar... and that's it.
Strange that this video doesn't appear on the The Know's YouTube channel. Though the previous video about the Star Wars Episode 9 director doesn't show up on the RT app yet, so it may just be weird publishing schedules.
To be fair, the Forbes article was pulled by Forbes due to there being an NDA that the author breached.
They did it through the primary season. People did searches on Bernie and Hillary on different search engines and the results showed that Hillary had more less favorable as top searches on other search engines like bing, ask jeeves, etc. While google had mostly positive results.
