i m hyped for this there is only few black female super heroes and it give my daughter someone to look up to
Hi Gray!! Love you and Ashley reporting together- dynamic duo
Xxxx <3 xxxX
I'm fine with everything but the age. I feel like Iron Man should be an older character, not a child.
i don't know we know marvel has a routine when it comes to younger characters if they seem to perfect at first they will pt a large scar on them soon. just as an example uncle ben dying and spidey breaking gwen,s back while trying to save her
I think the general idea is, and this might sound weird, so that they age more realistically. When we first met most of the heroes we have today they were 20-30 on average...back in the 1960's. They're only slightly older today. Maybe this will allow them to buff out a bit of that uncanny valley of age comics have been hanging in for so long.
I love this idea, maybe keep Stark around but as a full time designer or something. He could even become like Old Bruce from the Batman Beyond series.
God the YouTube comments are just cancer. Glad to see people are generally okay with the change here. I'm fine with it but will always be a Stark fan. But let's also be realistic here, this is a comic book so just give it a few months before Stark dons the suit again and the title for the comic will be "Return of the King" or something like that. Good change though, not too happy she's 15 but eh we'll see where it goes.
So you're applauding a publicity stunt that you yourself just admitted won't have any lasting effects on the character?
@RyanSmith5 Yes I am, mostly because I have the foresight to know that in terms of lasting effect, won't change much in terms of Tony Stark in terms of his survivals as a living character, but I'm glad they finding different avenues to bring on new storylines to further match a community of people that's growing more diverse day by day. Some people say "Just make a new hero," which could've happened, but in terms of that working out in the long run is very slim if you were to just throw one out in the wild, whereas this might boost sales. When Kamala Khan became Ms. Marvel, there was apparently a big uptake in sales, same goes for Jane Foster ascending to Thor.
Ashley and Gray in the video even go over some instances where the two can co-exist, like Miles Morales Spidey and Peter Parker. Same goes for Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson with Captain America. If anything this might just be a lead up to Riri Williams has her own spin-off comic (if successful) or fizzles out (if sales tank). I think this type of move works really well because in my own case, when the "Superior Spider-Man" was first brought up I was upset because of the dramatic change, but found myself reading it more and more because I was both wondering where it was going to change back, and the big effects it would have. I was not disappointed.
And we also don't know if Stark will be alive during this change (which I'm betting he lives and acts as sort of intel officer for Riri as a pseudo-Jarvis). You say it might not have any lasting effects on the character but who knows it might. With some people in Tony Stark's life absent, the introduction of Riri might give him a new friend or just someone to overall give him a mentor-like status to him.
It also might be permanent. People thought Wolverines death and replacement with X23 was temporary, but as far as I know it's still the case.
@DarkTempler7 That is correct! But because of comic book rules, X-23 exists as "Wolverine" whereas an existing Logan"exists in his own separate series called "Old Man Logan" where he's just an old badass without the yellow spandex
WHAT???? Jane Foster is Thor. Way to spoil everything guys
Seems kinda weird to just suddenly completely change a character like that. Is this common for comics?
I wonder if others share my opinion on comic book hero diversity
iron man is an idea represented by a suit, so are captain america & spiderman, if a new character takes on the mantle organically it makes perfect sense regardless of race/gender/etc
i just hate changes that don't make sense. a new hulk, who has the same characteristics as the old hulk (big, muscly, green) but just a different face, is stupid
also jane foster is mildly stupid. she's not thor, she has the power of thor...thor was his name, not just a costume he put on when he picked up the hammer. don't get me wrong, jane foster is a good choice for being worthy of the power but don't have her use his name
I think it might depend on how iconic the person in the suit is. They've had at least 4 Green Lanterns and 4 Robins, but they can't really change Superman without doing something really major to reality. Granted, I'm using DC not Marvel as references.
"There are fans who say 'Show us the new stuff' and fans who say 'don't do anything different than when I was a kid." Seems like you've found a way to piss off both groups Bendis. Yet again using the facade of diversity to cover the fact that they have no new ideas when its so readily obvious that you can make successful new characters. The MCU got people to love a character next to nobody knew in a giant talking tree that says 3-5 words. But nope, they've just gotta slap a new face on old characters and then claim that anyone who thinks that's just lazy is a bigot. Way to go Marvel. Bring on the hate, I know it's coming, just putting in my two cents.
Not really much point giving a spoiler warning in your video when the spoiler is in the title...
It's not like they're fucking with other religions' deities this time *coughThorcough*
Then again some people practically worship Marvel, so...
