captain america is my fav one why they do this to me
probably alternate universe cap or because the sudden deaging messed with his time line or something.
There's supposedly implications that Red Skull has implanted false memories into Cap. And although the writer and Brevoort are claiming that this isn't mind control or whatever, as somewhat pointed out in this video, this is not the first time Marvel has done this; one of the more recent examples is Superior Spider-Man, where Doc Ock took over Peter Parker's body. Marvel was insisting that it was the new status quo, but that only lasted a year. This "Cap is a Hydra agent" thing is most likely a similar case, and is only being used by Marvel as some pathetic bait-and-switch publicity stunt.
Everybody thought that wolverines death was just for media attention, but he's been dead for over a year, so this hydra cap could last longer than anyone expects
I mentioned elsewhere, but its also very possible that the reality altering that gave cap his powers back is also responsible for changing his past. Or that his past was changed by something else, its the start of a story so clearly the whole picture is not available.
Now, I have never read a Captain America comic, nor any comic for that matter, but I am a person on the internet, so I feel completely justified in saying: This is a travesty and desecrates everything Captain America represents! The writer of this latest issue should be fired and barred from ever writing comics again! I'm starting a petition on Change.org! Sign it here: https://www.change.org/p/anyone-who-loves-liberty-...
I think people are modding this negatively because sarcasm doesn't come across well on the interwebs. Although, I think the line "....but I am a person on the Internet." was a pretty good indicator. I'd just put a "/s" at the end next time so people get it.
I think he's been a triple agent this whole time. Also One More Day's ending was terrible!
I read the issue and thought it was kind of boring. I went on the internet and saw people freaking out about something we've seen a million times before. I was surprised because it's issue fucking one and I've seen this exact plot twist in issue one of Secret Warriors, but with Nick Fury.
And that resulted in the fucking Winter Soldier movie, so shut up and see where this goes. Bitchin' about a story because of chapter one...
I 100% agree. If the Captain America/Avengers movies weren't as popular as they are, this would just be a regular twist in the Cap storyline. I highly doubt that Marvel would allow this comic to be officially published if they didn't know the entire story themselves. This is honestly just the internet over reacting to the first chapter without knowing the entire story.
It just seems stupid
Nick Spencer is a really good writer who has proven himself a lot, so I think if people give the story a chance it will work out. I think this has something to do with Kobik. The entire event that involved Steve getting his powers and youth back dealt with erasing the memories of villains and making them believe they were someone else. If Steve's mind was altered to make him believe these things, it is reality bending and not really brainwashing. Also keep in mind, for the entirety of Superior Spider-man, the writer would say Peter Parker was dead forever, so people lie sometimes to hide the truth.
Too many fan kids are only looking at the small picture. Clearly this is a planned out story, and we need to hope the artist and writer aren't forced to change their story because of internet whining.
Did they reboot their continuity not long ago? I don't actually read comics so I have no idea if the All New All Different line is meant to have a different backstory or not.
Nope. People misinterpreted what Secret Wars was going to be and spread what they thought was going to happen like it was news. Kinda like Nazi-Cap.
The All-New All-Different line was starting everything off at issue #1, and post Secret Wars there was a one year time skip on the universe so new readers could jump in and be roughly on the same page as veterans.
"Comics taught me that death is not real" Ashley is my inspiration in life...
This might be something that is often done in comics, but the fact still remains that it is deeply disrespectful to the original creators and to the character himself and I hope it backfires right in their faces
Its a storyline, these types of things happen all the time. There is no way cap is actually Hydra, but more likely that something specific is happening that will be answered further once a few more issues come out.
