Star Trek Fan Film Rules Too EXTREME?

Yeah, it would be weird to see a major corporation making a feature production based on a small group's video and then not compensating them. I couldn't imagine what that would be like.

It'd be like if an individual made a short film about video game characters destroying the world, called 'Pixels'; and then a major production studio came along a few years later and made a movie about video game characters destroying the world, called 'Pixels'. That would be very weird. Even weirder if the studio then retroactively went after the small production for 'copyright infringement' on video hosting sites.

It's a good thing nothing like that has ever happened recently. Because it would be really weird if it did.

Stuff like the above happens, and we're meant to feel sympathetic for the larger companies? Please.

Axanar poked the bear, and bear ripped their heads off. It's hard to feel sorry for them, since they've been trying to fight this the whole way and give Paramount/CBS the middle finger.

I do feel bad for the fan films that weren't such blatant assholes and were just trying to honor a franchise they love. Paramount/CBS had been content for years to generally let them alone on the condition they not make money off their films.

Leave it to a few assholes to ruin it for everyone.
