Well I mean, if the legendaries aren't supposed to be in the game yet it makes sense.

Not even just that, it was given through gift, the lady didn't even catch/work for it. By all means it needed to be removed to the fairness of everyone else.

She didn't catch the Articuno. She said that Niantic had given her the Articuno to make up for some sort of error in the game. She showed an email as proof that Niantic had really given it to her, but even Articuno wasn't spelled right in it. The email had it spelled Articundo.
