I mean, what were they thinking making a Dragon Ball movie live action? That was a terrible idea to begin with. Seriously, what do people in Hollywood smoke before coming up with the idea of making things like that?

Yeah, okay, see, this started as a joke, but now I realize it makes absolute perfect sense, and therefore might very well be true.

Dragon Ball Evolution's story and writing must have been some of the worst in all of movie history if it was so bad that Dragon Ball fans hated that aspect so much that the writer felt the need to apologize. I love Dragon Ball, but the writing is not all that great to begin with and the story rarely makes sense in it's own context.
